Yes!...the weekly roundup for July 18th, 2004
18 Jul 2004

Welcome to this weeks RH&AR column. Another busy week and we cant seem to get the reviews out fast enough! As we take a quick look at what is coming out on bootleg CD & DVD, we need to comment on a title that eluded these pages in the last couple of weeks. The Japanese Palm Drive Label is readying their new Yardbirds Even More Golden Eggs!!!: The Lost Beebs. The title is described as being a previously lost BBC session, plus some alternate takes from 1966, including Spoonful, Louise, Hushabye and Steeled Blues. Thank you to our friends at ICE Magazine for filling in the gaps. We had a mere notation made on this from our Japanese sources, but had no real details. This one is due out anytime and may have hit the streets in Japan already. When we come across it, well share more, as it sounds very promising.

With Rush on the road, celebrating their 30th Anniversary, expect more Rush boots to surface. I know the downloading sites have been jam-packed with tapers sharing their recordingsand there are some phenomenal shows! The Gypsy Eye Label has their next Rush offering ready for release. Behind The Fire documents the trios May 26th, 2004 show in Nashville and is supposedly a very nice audience recording.

Gijon is the name of the latest Paul McCartney release from the Japanese Picadilly Circus Label. We haven't confirmed whether it is an audience or soundboard at this time but, the 3 disc set captures McCartneys May 25th, 2004 performance in Gijon, Spain. The set list is so impressive, Ive got to hear this one for myself. The most noteworthy performance is In Spite Of All The Danger, a tune McCartney penned in 1958 with pal George Harrison, performed here in tribute for sure. Very interesting. The tune was first released on The Beatles Anthology, Volume One. Thanks again to ICE for pointing this one out, as we missed it combing through the Japanese lists recently.

Cosmic Energy is active again. This time, its with a Robert Plant solo DVD-R titled "Acoustically '93", and captures some unique performances on the 1993 Fate Of Nations Tour. This special-unplugged DVD features several great moments from this tour, including an acoustic-set at an Italian coffee shop filmed for MTV, Elvis' Fools Rush In, You Shook Me and Living Lovin' Maid on Italy radio, rehearsals of 8:05 and If I Were A Carpenter at the Kings Head in the U.K. and an extremely rare version of Thru' With The Two Step performed in the United States. This one hit the streets in the last week and we are eager to give it a view. Cosmic Energy titles are always solid releases and this one looks very good.

We passed along the heads up on some new Watch Tower titles streeting this weekend in Japan. Anticipation is high for new releases from Jeff Beck, Derek & The Dominoes and Jimi Hendrix. With many of the Japanese Labels, there isnt a lot of info or lead information on titles, prior to their arrival. Well keep watching.

While Prince fans & collectors await The Godfather Labels Franciscologythe X-pert label has released the double-disc set, Kick Out The Tour. It documents the tour opener at The Staples Center in Los Angeles on March 29th, 2004. The word from our ICE counterparts indicate a dynamic, if at times exceedingly noisy, audience recording.

Last, but certainly not least, I want to comment on the status of the new Led Zeppelin DVD Audio-Video release from Genuine Masters, Watch And Listen To This, Eddie. GMs keen on advancing the format they started this Winter, and theyve certainly been excited about keeping us informed on how this one is coming along. As we have shared, you can view cover art, screen shots and picture disc art at their website right now. You can also pre-order your copy and assure yourself of a #d, Limited Edition by doing so before July 25thwhich is next Sunday. It seems there are no still shots used on this title. Instead, videos are presented from the Seattle Kingdome 77 to coincide with this tremendous L.A. Forum recording from 6/21/77. Its not intended to be a synched effort, merely a complimentary piece for viewing with the music. I trust itll be very tasteful and appropriate in its presentation. Besides, its the upgraded audio we really care about! At least I do. If you didnt get a chance to sample the Mp3 selections, you can still do that. The quality is amazing. Some specs and details:

NTSC All Regions Discs. Linear PCM Audio.
* Our DVD-R Dics have a 100% perfect Playback Compatility on All NTSC/PAL Regions and DVD Players as at this date. We only use proven highest grade Ritek G04 Discs.
* A double DVD set is required to maintain this audio at the highest quality non-compressed/non-lossy format. Linear PCM is the same high quality Audio Format used on SACD (Super Audio CD's).

Anyone heard of a CDR Label called 2000GFRR? If you know anything about them shoot us an email through the website. Thanks!

Thats it! Happy listening, collecting and searching. Let us be a part of it all and visit often.
