The Late Edition of the Mother's Day Bootleg News Column...
08 May 2005

Happy Mother's Day to all of you stateside, well why not to everyone! Thanks for checking in and we hope you've had a nice weekend. Got a few things to relay here and we'll get straight away with the Bootleg Release News for this past week.

There's word coming in from the Hang Ten camp that a new BEACH BOYS DVD is getting the final touches...it's simply called "Beach Boys '68" and it compiles all known video from that year, including film of their 1968 European Tour with tons of behind-the-scenes footage...AND, a bonus clip of the bands' appearance on The Mike Douglas Show in the U.S. and they play tune written by Charles Manson! This DVD should be a treat and there is another BEACH BOYS 1977 concert DVD in the cue that also features BRIAN WILSON...so, we'll be hearing more on that as it gets closer to a possible street date. The label also has plans for a double disc compilation of 4 1967 soundboard concert recordings that it will share more details on when ready. On a completely different front I have learned of a label that is getting the material lined up for a cool VAN HALEN live DVD with the core of the release being a Pro-shot show from Buenos Aires 1982! There is supposedly a ton of bonus video clips from the David Lee Roth era that is being included and we'll await more news on that as it develops.

In Bootleg News out of Japan over the weekend...Sirene has two new PINK FLOYD releases ready to go..."Amsterdam Rock Circus" is a single disc of audio plus a DVD from May 22nd, 1972 at Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam...the DVD features the only video known to exist from the gig and is an incomplete "Saucerful of Secrets"...the other FLOYD title is the 2CD "The Warm Thrill of Confusion", which features the complete audience tape from the August 6th, 1980 performance of The Wall show at London's Earl's Court Exhibition Center. You knew it wouldn't be long and it's taken just a week for the first CREAM reunion show to surface, and Wardour scooped the field with the 2CDR release "Reunion" (I'm sure they struggled a long time for a title!)...the set features the power trios' May 2nd performance at Royal Albert Hall in London and you can bet there will be other releases to come from those shows. From Zion comes a new NEIL YOUNG title called "Bridge 1994 - 2nd Day" and it's a stereo soundboard from the 8th Annual Bridge School Benefit concert at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountain View, California...this is a single disc from Zion.

Earlier in the week, we told you about the MisterClaudel Label issuing PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS "Hard Rock United", an uncirculated audience recording from Manchester, UK on May 17th, 1973 and it's always cool to hear a newly discovered recording and this one seems to be an amazing find...apparently recorded by some guy from Texas who was living in England back in the day. Sometimes the stories behind these recordings are as interesting as the tapes themselves. Digital Gang Productions latest round of releases shows that they have been busy...their 3 new BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND titles are: "Cleveland '76" 2CD, no details other than it's a soundboard and probably the Agora tape -we'll see..."Down In Jacksonville" 2CDR is supposedly an outstanding 1977 audience tape...and "Live! (The Lost '78 Live Album)" comes directly from the fully mastered tapes on 2CDR's...on DGP New Line comes GUNS 'N ROSES "Long Island Mutha Fuckers", a great audience recording from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York on June 17th, 1991, an early Use Your Illusion show from the Summer leg of the '91 U.S. Tour....the ROLLING STONES "Hughes Stadium, Ft. Collins" is another stab at the nice audience recording from Ft. Collins, Colorado on June 6th, 1975...then there are 2 new U2 titles, "The Complete Save The Yuppie Concert" is from San Francisco 1987 and is described as an "excellent audience tape"..."Astrodome, Houston" is another excellent audience source of the October 14th, 1992 concert in Houston, Texas on 2CDR's.

In other ROLLING STONES bootleg news, I failed to mention last week that Sister Morphine has a new title on the way..."New York City (The Big Apple), 1969" is likely to be the recently upgraded audience source that surfaced on EZ Torrent before the site closed down...it's the November 27th, 1969 performance at Madision Square Garden and a nice sounding tape! Also, Risk Disc announced their latest title a few weeks ago and I missed sharing it here on these pages for whatever reason. I really like this label from a pure "collectability" perspective. Their packaging is typically high quality but simple, utilizing nice photography and design. The latest to be offered from Risk Disc is "Let It Fox", yet another 1978 release from the label and this one is from The Fox Theater in Atlanta on June 12th, 1978 on a single disc. The complete audience tape is of marginal quality at best!...but a nice choice for the label to give their treatment to and it's relatively cheap to order.

Lastly in release news/updates, Genuine Masters' DAVID BOWIE "Reality In Melbourne" DVD-Audio/Picture Montage release now has a firm street date of May 31st...their LED ZEPPELIN "Court Jesters" is being wrapped up for that May 24th street/ship date to acknowledge the 30th Anniversary of their 5 night stand at Earl's Court back in May of 1975. Speaking of ZEPPELIN, Beelzebub Records announced details of their new title "Led Zeppelin Is Genius", a 5CDR Special Box Set that compiles three 1973 soundboard tapes from Denver (May 25th), Salt Lake City (May 26th) and the nearly complete San Diego tape (May 28th)...they are stating that all sources have been "Digitally Remastered".

I would like to close out this abbreviated column for this week by thanking you all for your patience with our implementation of new site structure and look. Anytime you go to change something it's an experience! For the most part it has gone well except the new templates wreaked havoc with my News Column pages so give me some time to go in and play with those to make them presentable once again. You should experience a much more responsive website as you jump around the pages of HotWacks On-line now. If you have comments or see a problem with the format, please shoot me an email at sb@hotwacks.com or use the Support Page to submit your comments or issues. It's all a step in the right direction and once we have this implementation all smoothed out, we'll add some new feature pages for your bootleg reference use. Stay tuned and have a great week.
