Welcome back to Recorded Highlights & Action Replays! My apologies for the technical delays to the column here the last week. We have some catching up to do so, without further delay...

The Keep On Truckin' Label has some pretty cool DVD-R titles that were made available this past week...THE ALLMAN BROTHERS BAND "Woodstock 1994" is a Pro-shot/Soundboard effort that will surely please collectors as it seems that a low generation of their performance on video has been rather elusive. LAURIE ANDERSON "Collected Videos" compiles the bulk of her promotional videos and other surprises in superb quality...ROBIN TROWER "Live in 75" is taken directly from Bill Graham's Master Video of the November 17th, 1975 show at The Cow Palace and also features stellar soundboard audio to the Pro-shot footage...and then Keep On Truckin' has packaged a couple of Pro-shot shows, RAINBOW & WHITESNAKE that features RITCHIE BLACKMORE's RAINBOW live at Castle Donnington 1980 and WHITESNAKE's performance at the Rock In Rio Festival in Rio De Janiero in 1985.

Some release news out of Japan today...Wardour has released DAVID BOWIE & THE SPIDERS FROM MARS "Ziggy In Boston", which features that October 1st, 1972 recording from the Boston Music Hall that we talked about a few weeks ago...and this struck me as rather humourous, Sirene has issued a PHIL COLLINS title called "Osaka Tapes '85" that features what is being described as an uncirculated "excellent sounding" audience tape and is strictly limited to 30 copies!!!...no offense to anyone but that will probably meet the demand...on a related note Sirene has also released GENESIS "Cleveland Upgrade", a stereo soundboard from the Music Hall in Cleveland on April 15th, 1976...Trial has released another QUEEN+PAUL RODGERS show called "Let There Be Drums", and is recorded at the Wembley Pavillion just about 10 days ago on May 11th and looks to be the complete show on 2CD's...also from Trial is WISHBONE ASH "Back In London 2005", an audience recording from The Mean Fiddler in London from this past April 29th and is also a complete show on 2 discs...and of course Mid-Valley is issuing that CREAM 8CD box set of all four shows from their Royal Albert Hall stand and has called it -what else, but "Reunion"...the set is limited to 150 copies and comes with a mini-tour program and other goodies...the label just issued ERIC CLAPTON "Dress Code", which is another numbered and limited pressing of Slowhands' April 20th, 1983 concert in Bremen on 2CD's.

In LED ZEPPELIN bootleg release news...Empress Valley has several new titles on the schedule to watch for..."Ahead & After" is a 3CD set that pieces several different sources for a unique compilation, including the excellent but incomplete Seattle audience tape from June 18th, 1972 and Ft. Worth on August 23rd, 1971 as well as what is described as "the Page and Plant Un-Ledded Special Invitation Film Session"...is this a roundabout way of saying they have an uncut performance?...outtakes? Also from EV will come "World Champion Drummer", the Raleigh, NC recording from April 7th, 1970 - a great title for EV to incorporate into their catalog...but, for whatever reason, they insist on doing something ridiculous like issuing yet another version of the Bath '70 show in alternate packaging. There is also news from the Tarantura camp that new titles are on the way...in the meantime, they have distilled their 3CD "Smithereens" title a bit by issuing "The Smithereens - Uncooked Tracks" which is some of those excellent pre-Vocal mixes from LZ III along with some of the Bombay Sessions and made them available on a single disc...there is another interesting looking, but redundant LZ release I learned about over the weekend...it's called "Early Days" and comes from the Refined Masters Label and compiles a cross-section of studio outtakes from Zeps' first four albums in a very nice gatefold sleeve...and, Happy Earl's Court Anniversary all...a reminder that Genuine Masters excellent "Court Jesters" Hybrid DVD-Audio is available now -their DAVID BOWIE "Reality In Melbourne" will be shipping May 27th, so we have been told.

A "holy grail" of sorts for BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN collectors has been the discovery and distribution of his Christic Institute peformance in Los Angeles, the second night, on November 17th, 1990...and Crystal Cat has just released their version of this stellar recording and performance called "Christic Night"...it's a 2CD set complete with booklet full of rarely seen photos customized with top notch production...Anubis has just released BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND "Mystery Train In Kansas City", that supposedly provides a huge upgrade to what was an already stellar audience tape of the Kemper Arena performance on November 19th, 1984...A label that I haven't mentioned in a long time is Monochrome...and they are of course a Beatles and related, specific label and they have recently issued JOHN LENNON "Studio Sessions 1" that goes back to The Plastic Ono band sessions and compiles 44 tracks of rehearsals and outtakes that have not been previously available...I should also mention that the Masters of Beatles Essentials Label released the JOHN LENNON set, "You Should Have Been There Vol. 2: Rock And Roll Sessions" on a single CD plus DVD set...The CD contains Rock & Roll studio sessions & bonus live tracks while the DVD features the Old Grey Whistle Test '75 broadcast performance, Salute to Sir Lew 1975, plus JOHN with the ELTON JOHN BAND at MSG 1975.

That's the latest from this past week for now. I will likely add in a supplement to fold in info on titles from the previous week here in the next couple of days. Thanks for checking out the News here at HotWacks On-line and keep checking back for more. I've got some catching up to do! Have a great week.
