The early Summer Bootleg News...
06 Jun 2005

Now that Summer is here, let's hope things start heating up! There are many tours in motion and a ton that will begin the latter part of Summer and into the Fall. Plenty of performances to be recorded and shared... and booted!

Let's start out with the latest bootleg release information to be disseminated over the weekend. News from Japan...Trial DVD Masters has released THE CARS "Let's Go!" on DVD-R. This one compiles all of their primary TV appearances from their "Midnight Special" performances on September 17th, 1979 and "Rock Goes To College" that same year...to their "Friday's" TV Show appearances in 1980 & '82...on CD Trial has issued OASIS "Turn Up The Sun" on 2CDR that features their Hammersmith Apollo concert on May 26th, 2005 -plus a bonus disc with an exerpt of their May 22nd London Gig at the Clapham Grand, and interviews with the Gallagher brothers...From Power Gate comes DIO "Gates Of Babylon" which captures a recent performance at the Zepp in Tokyo on May 29th...the first 50 sets will also include a bonus disc that features opening act SPIRITUAL BEGGARS from the same evening and the title of that disc is "Tokyo Demons", also on CDR...Silver Disc releases are still showing up too!...on the Cygnus Label is a new RUSH 2CD set called "Row The Boats", a stereo soundboard of their show at The Arena in St. Louis on November 7th, 1991...another Japanese double CD announced earlier today is THIN LIZZY "Memory Pain", also a stereo soundboard from Nakano Sunplaza, Tokyo on September 25th, 1980...also, the day Led Zep's John Bonham passed away. Highland has announced that their next release will be a ROGER WATERS solo show, a set called "Sweet Hitch-Hiker" that will feature his July 3rd, 1984 show at the Hallenstadion in Zurich.

Other bootleg titles I would like to point out...AEROSMITH "New York, New York" from the Metal Master Holdings Ltd. Label, a single CDR release featuring the very familiar Schaefer Music Festival stereo soundboard from Central Park on August 29th, 1975...this one has been used for the King Biscuit Flower Hour and numerous other releases and is an outstanding "Toys In The Attic" tour document-it seems this has been "remastered" in some fashion...THE TEMPTATIONS "In Japan 1973" has been issued on CDR from the Jamrec Music Label and features a soundboard recording from Shibuya Kokaido Hall in Tokyo circa 1973...from S.D.R. Records is HEART "Collective Heart", a compilation of sources that includes some early Ann Wilson and The Daybreaks recordings, originally released by Topaz Records in 1969, it also features the full Mushroom Records unauthorized release of the "Magazine" LP, a 1992 Lovemongers performance with Chris Cornell, Ann & Nancy Wilson with Queensryche '92 and more.

Earlier in the week, we pointed out that the Cross Border Records Label has issued a VERY interesting new CREAM title called "All In A Tumble"...a 2CD collection of "Fresh Cream" session outtakes, assorted interview snipets, acetates and more from 1966-1968 in a Limited Edition package of 200 numbered copies...this one gathers many different recordings, including ERIC CLAPTION w/JOHN MAYALL'S BLUESBREAKERS...If you are into MILES DAVIS, look for the title "Moment" to be in circulation, this one features soundboard recordings from Tokyo, July 12th and Kyoto,Japan on July 15th 1964 and comes to us via the Heavy Blow Label. The Exile Label is certainly excited about the prospects of having the ROLLING STONES getting ready to tour again...the label has announced a couple of new titles to be released soon..."Get Licked Around The World" is a 2CD of various sources, from The Fleet Center in Boston to The Roseland Ballroom in New York, The Enmore Theater in Sydney, The Budokan in Tokyo, The Wiltern in L.A. and of course the pre-tour Palais Royale show in Toronto as well as the S.A.R.S. Benefit in Toronto..."Welcome Back! Wembley 1982" is yet another release of the excellent audience tape from June 26th, 1982 in a double-disc set. One more STONES note, last week we mentioned Sister Morphine's new BBC set coming out soon...they have shared the official front artwork featuring an amazing early photo of the band that I have never seen before and thought I'd share it here....a nice touch from The Good Sister.

We are getting updates from various labels about plans to release some new BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN live material from the current "Devils & Dust" solo acoustic tour. We'll share details of such releases as they get closer to becoming a reality. Crystal Cat has just released The Boss' April 22nd, 2005 show from an audience source and it's simply called "Paramount Theater 2005" and features an early tour document from Asbury Park, New Jersey. Finally, the Tarantura Label has shared that their next release will be JIMMY PAGE "Pure Blues Anthem"...another strictly limited edition from the label, featuring his October 28th, 1988 concert at the Nassau Coliseum in Long Island, New York during the Outrider Tour.

Thanks for tapping in for the latest bootleg news roundup here at HotWacks On-line. Keep an eye on the News Ticker and I'll meet you back here next Sunday. Have a good one!
