Hot DVD News from 4Reel Productions this week...Look for THE ROLLING STONES "Houston '81" DVD to hit the streets sometime in late March...the label is in the process of completing the compilation that includes a remastered, color enhanced version of the October 28th, 1981 Houston proshot video (hopefully this means a fatter soundtrack!) with bonus News Footage surrounding the event plus, a pristine print of the Checkerboard Lounge video from the November 22nd, 1981 event where Mick, Keith and Woody join Muddy Waters & Band onstage in Chicago. Sounds like a pretty solid title and we should see this one relatively soon. 4Reels' first 2007 title is just hitting the streets now, VAN HALEN "Largo, Maryland 1982" should be available wherever your underground outlet exists. And, after the unidentified teaser on the HotWacks On-line News Ticker last week... Crystal Cat announced a couple of new BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN releases for March...Berkeley, March 2nd, 1973...and Richmond, May 31, 1973 with CC promising them in "excellent audience quality" - and primo presentation to be sure. Coming soon from Zion is a new BOZ SCAGGS stereo soundboard being released on CD as "Greek Theater 1995"...the double disc set presents a July 23rd 1995 concert from Berkeley, California...Wardour unveiled their new QUEEN 2CD set last week - called "Canadian Assault", the excellent sounding set contains the bands' December 14, 1978 performance at The PNE Coliseum in Vancouver...Just announced from Power Gate is a double-bill release from DIO & WHITESNAKE titled "Definitive Spokane" 2CD, it pairs a couple of stereo soundboard recordings with both bands taped at The Coliseum in Spokane, Washington on July 24, 1984 and some bonus live DIO from Lakefront Amphitheater in New Orleans on October 1st, 1985... The latest RAINBOW offering from the Rising Arrow Label is a 4CD set called "Black And Blue", and it presents two different audience tapes of their January 20, 1978 concert at Koseinenkin Kaikan in Osaka, Japan...The rise in VELVET UNDERGROUND material continues and the latest is from Nothing Songs DVD, "Ultimate Feedback TV"...the video production is primarily centered around a 1986 Stirling Morrison-hosted interview type program where he reflects back on the history of the band and whatever. The Japanese information is incredibly bizarre to try and translate but it sounds like there is some 1990 interview footage as well but it's all in super clean, master tape quality...That, I got. More ELVIS PRESLEY boot news this week!...The relatively new SR Label has paired up a couple of fine recordings..."Rock In Black" 2CD provides collectors a complete version of the January 26th, 1970 Las Vegas opening night show and a complete February 22nd, 1970 midnight performance. The set comes in a Deluxe Digipack and is limited to 500 copies worldwide...and the the digipack folds out to reveal some previously unseen photos plus, the black jumpsuit worn on that January 26th opening night performance is shown here in a bonus foldout poster. The release news is certainly coming in digestable bites but we can expect things to broaden in the coming weeks.
