Queen Definitive Houston DVDRainbow Lost In Europe Power Gate LabelElvis Presley It's Tahoe Time Rainbow Records Label

It's been two weeks since we've formally plotted what is new on the Bootleg Market and plenty of great stuff to cite here and document.  Let's start with the very latest...An upgraded version of the QUEEN proshot video from Houston on December 11, 1977 has been released on a generic DVD Label and is called, "Definitive Houston" and looks to be just that...Power Gate just announced their new RAINBOW title, "Lost In Europe" 2CD and features the Mark II version of the band live at Scandinavium in Gothenburg, Sweden on the 17th of January, 1980 in an excellent audience quality sourcetape...Releases from over the weekend include ELVIS PRESLEY "It's Tahoe Time" 1CD from Rainbow Records and it features a low generation audience tape from cassette that was carefully transferred to disc...it turns out this 50 minute tape of the Midnight Show from the Sierra Hotel in Lake Tahoe on October 13, 1974, is the very first show to arrive on commercial bootleg CD from his string of eight performances that week.  It comes with a deluxed 16-page booklet with photos and information on that series of 1974 Tahoe Fall Shows.  Tarantura released 2 titles as well...THE POLICE "Tokyo Yeah!" 1CD contains an FM Broadcast from Budokan on February 15, 1980 and PINK FLOYD "Home Piggy, Home!" 2CD presents the absolutely wonderful stereo audience recording from the Nassau Coliseum on February 28, 1980 and re-purposes the old Digital Floyd title (and perhaps their remastered tape?) for this worthy release...

Hollow Horn is back for another Fall-Spring BOB DYLAN series of titles...while this time there doesn't seem to be a series theme, they are certainly no-less interesting!...Volume 1 is called "Let My Poor Voice Be Heard" and to save some time tonight, I'll just post the release info I received:

A new two-disc set from the Hollow Horn label that will form the first installment of a new seven volume series of releases. This release features all the available tracks that were recorded for publishing purposes for both for Leeds Music and Witmark and Sons in the 1962-1964 period. This is the first time in many years that this material has been gathered together on one release and the usual high quality Hollow Horn fold out packaging makes it the definitive version! The track listing is as follows:

DISC ONE (LEEDS MUSIC - JANUARY ’62): HARD TIMES IN NEW YORK TOWN - POOR BOY BLUES - BALLAD FOR A FRIEND - RAMBLING GAMBLING WILLIE - MAN ON THE STREET - TALKIN’ BEAR MOUNTAIN PICNIC MASSACRE BLUES - STANDING ON THE HIGHWAY - (WITMARK AND SONS - JULY ‘62 - MARCH ’63) - BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND - LONG AGO, FAR AWAY - A HARD RAIN’S A-GONNA FALL - THE DEATH OF EMMETT TILL - LET ME DIE IN MY FOOTSTEPS - BALLAD OF HOLLIS BROWN - QUIT YOUR LOW DOWN WAYS - TOMORROW IS A LONG TIME - BABY I’M IN THE MOOD FOR YOU - LONG TIME GONE - MASTERS OF WAR - FAREWELL - OXFORD TOWN - DON’T THINK TWICE, IT’S ALRIGHT - WALKIN’ DOWN THE LINE.

DISC TWO (WITMARK AND SONS : APRIL ‘63 - JUNE ’64): I SHALL BE FREE - BOB DYLAN’S DREAM - BOOTS OF SPANISH LEATHER - BOB DYLAN’S BLUES - GIRL OF THE NORTH COUNTRY - SEVEN CURSES - HERO BLUES - WHATCHA GONNA DO? - GYPSY LOU - AIN’T GONNA GRIEVE - JOHN BROWN - WHEN THE SHIP COMES IN - THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN’ - PATHS OF VICTORY - BABY LET ME FOLLOW YOU DOWN - GUESS I’M DOIN’ FINE - I’D HATE TO BE YOU ON THAT DREADFUL DAY - ALL OVER YOU - BOUND TO LOSE, BOUND TO WIN - TALKIN’ JOHN BIRCH PARANOID BLUES - MR TAMBOURINE MAN - MAMA YOU BEEN ON MY MIND - I’LL KEEP IT WITH MINE.

...There is also a new Label called Liberator that is readying their debut BOB DYLAN boot release and it's going to be a beauty!...it's called "And It Ain't In The Seats Of A Supper Club" 2CD and here are the specifics:

A new two-disc set on a new label called Liberator compiles performances from the series of four concerts (two a night) performed over the nights of November 16 and 17 1993 at the Supper Club in New York City. These performances in an intimate club setting were held to film and record a special acoustic “Unplugged” style release, but the project was scrapped in favour of the later MTV Unplugged releases recorded a year later. The source tapes for this release are all stunning quality soundboard recordings, the vast majority of which have not previously circulated publicly It contains both the opening and final sets in their entirety, plus all the different songs from the other two sets, so that at least one version of every song performed over the two nights is included. The full track listing of this release is as follows:

DISC ONE (16 November 1993 First Show): ABSOLUTELY SWEET MARIE; LAY LADY, LAY; BLOOD IN MY EYES; QUEEN JANE APPROXIMATELY; TIGHT CONNECTION TO MY HEART; DISEASE OF CONCEIT; I WANT YOU; RING THEM BELLS; MY BACK PAGES; FOREVER YOUNG(17 November 1993 First Show): RAGGED AND DIRTY; ONE MORE CUP OF COFFEE; I’LL BE YOUR BABY TONIGHT

The Who Mod Generation DVD Apocalypse Sound LabelThe Rolling Stones The Road To Babylon DVD Apocalypse SoundU2 Zoomerang In Adelaide DVD Apocalypse Sound LabelBon Jovi Quite Man DVD Apocalypse Sound Label

Apocalypse Sound will release these DVD titles this Thursday, September 13th...THE WHO "Mod Generation" compiles TV Appearances and Promotional Films circa 1965-1969 on a DVD-9 Dual Layer Disc, and at first glance appears to be a near re-release of Scorpio's "Purple Hearts And Power Chords".. perhaps same material but slightly rearranged...THE ROLLING STONES "Road To Babylon" looks like a fantastic compilation of Bridges To Babylon proshot/TV appearances from the 1997 U.S. leg of the tour from The Double Door club gig to Soldier Field, MTV's 10 Spot and Vh-1 Fashion Awards, etc. all on a DVD-9...BON JOVI "The Quite Man" (doesn't make any sense, has to be a typo "Quiet Man")...anyway, this is another proshot compilation of 2007 appearances except for the 1997 MTV acoustic JON BON JOVI solo set...and MICHAEL JACKSON "The Baby, The Man.....The King!" contains a November 27, 1987 proshot show from Brisbane, Australia along with a classic 1975 JACKSON 5 live concert from Mexico City...U2 "Zoomerang In Adelaide" features the proshot show from Adelaide, Australia's Football Park on November 16, 1993 for the first time on Silver Bootleg DVD-9 with a ton of bonus TV appearances from 2006 including The Grammys, Oprah, Superdome Re-Opening, etc and remember all of these releases come in superb, deluxe triple foldout digipacks too... From A Goodfellas Productions  this week comes THE CLASH "Capitol Radio" 1CD contains the March 8, 1980 stereo soundboard from The Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey...THE POLICE "Happy Birthday Sting" 1CD is a soundboard from Barcelona on October 1, 1983...from The Godfather Records comes THE ROLLING STONES "It's Nice To Be Back...Wherever We Are!" 2CD is the excellent audience tape from Brno, Czech Republic at the Outdoor Exhibition Center on July 22nd, 2007 with bonus tracks from Budapest on July 20th...

Catching up from the previous week...the Sigma Label will release PINK FLOYD "Rave Master" 2CD, a fresh take on the wonderful Boston Garden audience tape from June 18, 1975...Yet another great looking JIMI HENDRIX package on the way from Scorpio...titled "Pan Am Flight 102 - Soundtracks From The Film", it's a 2CD + 1DVD set that compiles a slew of rare performances in chronological fashion from an L.A. studio in 1964 to his very last performance in Fehmarn, Germany on September 6, 1970 with a DVD of Death Announcements from BBC, recent performance clips prior to his death and more...In other STONES boot news...Dog N Cat Records are releasing "Birmingham Odeon" 2CD that pairs the first show from The Odeon Theater on September 19, 1973 with bonus tracks from Ahoy, Holland on October 14, 1973... and Cool Cool Hand continues the mastering at Sister Morphine but a bit of a discrepancy in news coming out of that camp as I've heard the next title is "Unabrupt Dirty Work" while Riccar99 has information that the oft-listed "Diamonds And Disease (Exile Outtakes)" is on deck next from The Good Sister...we'll see in October I guess...finally, Hannibal Vision will release a July 8, 1980 proshot performance of THE PAT METHENY GROUP in Hamburg, Germany called "Heartland In Hamburg 1980" and runs about 144 minutes.

And that puts a wrap on this edition of the Boot News for this first column of September 2007.  Nice to see some of the activity over on the Forums pages, don't forget to register yourself if you haven't done so already - 19 members so far...c'mon and prove me wrong and make that a place to network a little bit!  You see, it really didn't work all that well 3 years ago or so - this time I actually like it's presence on the site. That wasn't the case before as it wasn't really thought out.  It's all about having fun and I hope that shows through.  Still looking for other contributors to sprinkle more variety of artists in the review articles...drop me a line at sb@hotwacks.com if you may be interested.  Have a nice week...and please find a moment tomorrow to remember those who lost their lives on 9/11 on this 6th anniversary of the Terrorist Attacks on New York, Washington D.C. and that little field in Pennsylvania...be well.
