New Zeppelin, ELP and more this week...
24 Sep 2007

Welcome to this week's Bootleg News here at HotWacks On-line.  Before I jump into the release information, I want to salute a fellow online vendor that I'm sure a number of you did business with, Neil Lafferty over at Rip It Up CD's.  Last weekend Neil passed away suddenly in his sleep.  I know there are several parties working to sort out the processing of orders and get the business end taken care of on Neil's behalf.  I know he would be grateful to his friends and business associates bridging the situation for his customers and I'm sure his family is appreciative as well. Our thoughts and support go out to Neil's family.

It's the first day of Autumn and here's what's new in bootleg releases...

Led Zeppelin Super Session At Tivolis Koncertsal Empress Valley Supreme Disc Label

....Several new LED ZEPPELIN titles have hit the streets, issued yesterday in Japan is the new Empress Valley single disc, "Super Session At Tivolis Koncertsal" which contains the afternoon show at the Copenhagen venue on March 16, 1969.  Speculation early yesterday was that this may be a new audience source tape but that is not the case apparently and has been described as a "very good audience source".  Some may differ with that assessment but we'll find out shortly (thanks to Broken Arrow for the image above, and to Airraid for the News Ticker scan).  Tarantura made good on their September promises of new Zep titles and issued their own version of the new Southampton 1973 multi track mix...dubbing the 2CD title, "Swastika", it seems the Japanese opted to play off of the event poster that utilized a Nazi officer motif...which is a bit ironic or at least a bit twisted given it's a Japanese offering.  The other title, as we mentioned earlier in the month, is "The Box Of Tricks" which contains the previously available audience tape from Honolulu on September 6, 1970...

Emerson, Lake & Palmer Brain Tulsa Surgery Virtuoso LabelThe Rolling Stones Don't You Wanna Live With Me Dog N Cat RecordsBob Dylan (and it ain't) in the seats of a Supper Club Liberator Label

...Brand new on the Virtuoso Label is EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER "Brain Tulsa Surgery", a 2CD set featuring an excellent audience recording from the Tulsa Civic Center on March 7, 1974...the first batch comes with a bonus DVD-R of a proshot performance from The Metropolitan in Rio De Janeiro on August 16, 1997...Dog N Cat Records are delving back in the ole Vinyl Gang vaults and will release THE ROLLING STONES "Don't You Wanna Live With Me" 2CD that will contain the audience tape from State University in Ft. Collins, Colorado on November 7, 1969 and supplemented with the March 6, 1971 tape (first show) from Coventry, West Midlands of England...As I type this information up tonight, the latest word from The Liberator Label is that they are putting the final touches on their new BOB DYLAN 2CD set, "(and it ain't) in the seats of a Supper Club" and the buzz is getting louder on the superb quality of this 1993 soundboard...we can't wait...

Small Faces Rollin' Over DVD Bad Wizard LabelThe Yardbirds Mod Sounds DVD Bad Wizard Label

Classic Rock indeed...Scorpio continues to roll with new DVD's on their Bad Wizard Label...the two vintage compilations are SMALL FACES "Rollin' Over" which assembles one of the largest TV & Promo collections from the  STEVE MARRIOT, RONNIE LANE, IAN McCLAGAN and KENNY JONES quartet we've seen presented yet...THE YARDBIRDS "Latest Mod Sounds" gets the similar treatment  and documents the several incarnations of the YARDBIRDS from the CLAPTON years 1964-65 through the PAGE/BECK run and up to the early 70's KEITH RELF project, RENNAISANCE...We also learned of a new Boot Label on the scene this week....it's called Dead Flowers Supreme Masters and their first release will be JACKSON BROWNE "Opening Night At Jabberwocky", a 2CD soundboard tape from a March 27, 1971 performance at Syracuse Univeristy and apparently gets the "24-Bit Remaster" treatment...and finally, a second pressing of 4Reel's JIMI HENDRIX DVD, "A Room Full Of Hendrix", is now available out there, this one has held up over the past 5 or 6 years as being the best version of the Royal Albert Hall performance from 1969 and certainly has the strongest audio track so keep an eye out for that if you seek a great HENDRIX piece.

That's what came down the release pipeline on Silver Disc this week...if you hear of anything else please drop me an email at sb@hotwacks.com or feel free to post in the comments area below.  Thank you very much for stopping in and keep your Internet Browsers directed to the HotWacks News Ticker throughout the week...and check back often.  Have a good one!
