Deep Purple Circus Khrone '70 Darker Than Blue LabelBob Dylan By The Waterfront Docks Scorpio LabelRainbow Black Tapestry Rising Arrow Label

Just announced today out of Japan...DEEP PURPLE "Circus Khrone '70" 1CD containing a really nice, vintage audience recording of the early MKII line-up on December 5th, 1970 in Munich, Germany on the Darker Than Blue Label...and, RAINBOW "Black Tapestry" 2CD from Rising Arrow which features a superb audeince tape from the afternoon show atThe Budokan in Tokyo on December 16, 1976...However, the most exciting news of the week could very well be Scorpio's announcement of BOB DYLAN "By The Waterfront Docks" 1CD which presents to collector's an uncirculated stereo soundboard recording from an early Never Ending Tour stop at Portland, Maine on July 3rd, 1988 (the venue was actually The Ballpark at Old Orchard Beach)...this iteration of BOB DYLAN & HIS BAND featured an incredibly tight unit that included guitarist G.E. SMITH...the show has been previously available via a great stereo audience tape that was released in 1992 on the Red Sky Label but was missing "Maggies Farm"...it's a great setlist and should be a fun listen...

Miles Davis Live In France 1969 Scorpio LabelJimmy Page After Works Vol. 1 Bad Wizard DVDTraveling Wilburys Videos No Label DVDPaul McCartney & Wings LightSpeed DVD Picture Perfect Label

...Also issued by Scorpio this week is MILES DAVIS "Live In France 1969" 1CD that leverages a nice FM Broadcast recording of his performance at the Antibes Jazz Festival in France on July 26, 1969...and on their Bad Wizard Label, Scorpio has issued the JIMMY PAGE DVD, "After Works Vol. 1" that compiles at least one video document of each of his post-ZEPPELIN projects from THE FIRM promos and live capsule coverage of their Hammersmith Odeon video in December '84 through to his guest appearance with ROBERT PLANT and band at Knebworth '90, a snippet of the COVERDALE/PAGE project, even a 1985 guest appearance with THE BEACH BOYS!...It looks like the label may also be behind THE TRAVELING WILBURYS "Videos" DVD though it features no label identity, this was just released this week as well and brings together a stellar compilation of proshot pieces - including the opening segment of the band sans-ROY ORBISON for the filming of TOM PETTY's promo video for "I Won't Back Down" in March of '89 when on the second day of shooting, RINGO STARR was told he wasn't needed but the Director DID need him and much to the chagrin and annoyance to the rest, he brought in a look-alike from the Broadway production of Beatlemania!...of course it includes all the Warner Bros. Records promos, EPK footage, Newsreel and TV interviews, etc....BEATLES afficianados, the Picture Perfect Label, has released their version of PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS "Lightspeed" double-DVD which presents the 1973 James Paul McCartney TV Special along with bonus 2006 remaster clips, "This Is Your Life" appearance from 1974, "Wings Fly South" Australian Tour Documentary, and more...On a related note, MisterClaudel is telling of plans to release THE BEATLES "Multi Tracks Seperated" 1CD - their follow up to "Sgt. Pepper Multi Tracks" double-disc from September...this new disc literally presents separate vocal tracks and solo overdubs from the landmark recording sessions...

...a couple of other releases to mention...Seymour Records has issued the new TELEVISION single CD plus bonus CDR of a live performance from CBGB's on July 31, 1976 with opening act TALKING HEADS and special guests joining TOM VERLAINE and co....SODD has released THE ROLLING STONES "Nasty Music - The Best Ever"  2CD of a 2007 remastered version of the very booted and very common - but very wonderful- soundboard tapes from MSG 1972 and Brussels & London '73...

That's the rub for this week and all of us at HotWacks On-line want to wish all of you Stateside a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Being in the middle of some family crisis/drama here the last month and continuing with everything the holidays bring, it is time again to take stock of things and keep the perspective.  Personally, I am looking to playing catch up (yes, still) this week with my backlog of reviews.  THANK YOU...and be well.  I'll meet you here again next week.  Check back for updates through the holiday weekend, and beyond.
