New Led Zeppelin Boot Label officially gets off the ground...
17 Jun 2008

Making their way to market here the next several days are the promised debut titles from the The Chronicles Of Led Zeppelin bootleg label.  With limited pressings of 100 copies each (a move that contradicts my understanding of the initial intentions of the label by not playing the games of the premium Japanese labels), these new titles present the first from the dedicated Zep label that intends on preserving integrity of original, mostly uncirculated audience tape sources by presenting them in an unadulterated form, free of equalization or enhancement in any way.  This all sounds very promising indeed! Even better is the fact that "How Many Years Gone With The Wind", a 3CD set of The Omni show from Atlanta on April 23, 1977 is making it's debut on a silver disc format and will be warmly received by die-hard completists or anyone able to claim a copy.  "Long Drive To Seattle" is a 4CD set from the March 21st, 1975 marathon from the Seattle Coliseum that apparently leverages both tape sources offering a complete show - not unlike other recent presentations it would seem but we'll need to compare upon actual release...the presentation of these titles certainly appears to be of 'no frills' category which may not be widely enticing but the price points on these multi-disc sets correlate to a more budget label mindset which is refreshing...

...In other news, Wardour will issue the DAVID BOWIE 1CD plus bonus CDR set, "Torquay 1972" from the June 16, 1972 Torquay, England Town Hall performance taped from the audience - which was recently introduced into circulation, supplemented with the bonus disc fragment "The Ziggy In Osaka" from Koseinenkin Kaikan, Osaka on April 17, 1973...There is a new, non label, ROLLING STONES 2CD simply titled "Copenhagen 1973" which features both the 1st and 2nd shows from Brondby Hallen on October 7, 1973 utilizing excellent audience sources. One just has to scratch his head with the continued STONES boot catalog regurgitation the underground manufacturers are enamored with...On that note, it appears Sister Morphine's next effort will be "Sydney '73"...why not?  Dog N Cat have re-issued the February 20th & 21st, 1973 audience tapes on "I Think It's Gonna Rain Again Tonight" 2CD...Astute DEEP PURPLE collectors take note that Darker Than Blue appropriately sourced a MKIII photo for the cover of their latest "Burn The Witch" release to depict a more accurate live line-up with DAVID COVERDALE and GLENN HUGHES vs. the IAN GILLAN shot initially shared last week...
