13 Apr 2009

...Released in Japan over the weekend were the latest offerings from the Tarantura Label, pictured above is the new LED ZEPPELIN "Eyes Big Crowds" title...a single disc with deluxe slipsleeve edition of the Texas Pop Festival show on August 31, 1969 via alternate audience tape.  Also released  was the ERIC CLAPTON & JEFF BECK 6CD set, 'Two Birds From The Yard"  which pairs the two Saitama performances from the legendary guitarists on Saturday, February 21st and Sunday February 22nd, 2009 and collectors evidently made quick work of snapping up the robust set as the initial pressing quickly sold out on Saturday...In related ZEPPELIN boot news over the weekend Empress Valley issued their single CD "Whiskey A-Go Go" with the great January 5th, 1969 performance from Los Angeles' famed club...also released was special paper sleeve edition of "Casino Royale" containing the August 7, 1971 Montreux Casino 'PA' recording along with the brief Milan Riot show from July 5th, 1971 rounding out the 2CD set...Newcomer Label Graf Zeppelin seems to be planning a series of reissues from the ZEP catalog, starting with "Newport Jazz Festival" 1CD that presents again the excellent audience recording from July 5, 1969 (pictured below)...A cross-section of other CLAPTON fare overshadows the other artists this week as the Tricone Label issued "Let Me In" 2CD (also below) which leverages an excellent audience recording from Yokohama on December 8, 1971...and, Mid Valley released "City Of Angels" 2CD containing the February 25th concert from The Budokan which utilizes a japanese broadcast source tape...DEREK & THE DOMINOS "LSD" is a 4CD set that pairs 2 different nights at The Capitol Theater in Passaic, New Jersey on December 5th & 6th, 1970...and coming soon from Mid Valley is the limited edition box set 'CLAPTON vs. BECK - Saitama 2 Nights' -- a 4CD/3DVD extravaganza that seems to take the above from Tarantura a step further...

...Rounding out the new releases from the land of the rising sun this week are the latest from Sigma with PINK FLOYD "Grote Zaal" 2CD which tapped an excellent audience recording from Rotterdam, Netherlands on November 7, 1970 for this installment...and finally from Darker Thank Blue comes the new RAINBOW "Same Old Dream" 2CD that leverages an October 22, 1982 performance at The Budokan that seemed to provide quite the environment once again for an atmospheric recording that comes with quite the accolades!...thanks for stopping in for the latest updates and we wish you all a great week...happy collecting!
