New Dylan Rothbury Fest, Zeppelin titles and Stones... | |
...I had a chance to sample the brand new BOB DYLAN Rothbury show from Social Graces over the weekend and I can confirm that "Chasing A Shadow" 2CD will be another highlight in the 2009 'boot-scape'!..while the stereo soundboard is full and clean, it's the performance that brings this nugget alive. Highlights include the incredibly strong rendition of 'Senor', the new tune 'Jolene' and one of the best versions of 'Blowin' In The Wind' I've heard contemporary-Bob execute...really great stuff!... ...There are a couple of new LED ZEPPELIN titles to make note of this week...pictured above is the brand new "Reunions" DVD from the sporadic Cosmic Energy Label and series whose releases have always been noteworthy in terms of quality and sourcing...and this looks to be another in their archive to consider. As you would expect, it compiles all the post-Zeppelin performances and events that have been well-documented in previous efforts but again, it's the sources and some surprises that will likely cause this one to stand out, here's a rundown of what is featured here on this DVD-R production: Atlantic 40th Anniversary May 14, 1988 (FM broadcasted used for soundtrack) Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, January 12, 1995 Induction by Steven Tyler & Joe Perry Black Dog (proshot) news footage Knebworth Festival June 30th, 1990 Various Interviews with Page, Plant & Jones 2006 All videos are from Master source. ...Also released over this past weekend in Japan is the new ZEP title from Wendy Records, "Silly Putty" 3CD which pairs the mono soundboard tape with what is being touted as a previously unreleased audience source of the Buffalo, New York performance from July 15, 1973...finally, Dog N Cat Records have issued the new ROLLING STONES title, "All The Girls In Hannover"...a 4CD remaster set of the June 6 & 7, 1982 tapes... ...In closing this week I hope everyone enjoyed little slices of Woodstock tributes and flashbacks being aired on television over the last few days...one of the better programs I caught was the one shown on the History channel earlier tonight, simply because they offered some new interviews with key figures involved in the production, along with infamous attendees, etc. with some alternate footage...catch it if you can. Thanks for stopping by! Svengi, August 17th/18th, 2009 |
