It's the Christmas Week Edition of the Bootleg News!... | |
...Welcome to this next-to-last look at titles arriving yet in 2009 as we sprint to the finish...Starting things out with the most interesting of the announcements this week, pictured above left is the new ROLLING STONES package from Idol Mind Productions, "Rolling Stones & Guests - Altamont Free Concert 1969" 3CD plus bonus DVD-R that seems to really pull all the available pieces (outside of 'Gimme Shelter') to provide a well-rounded audio document of the event outside of San Francisco on December 6, 1969 and looks very, very interesting...Tracklisting for the Altamont title below...The other IMP title this week is a 4th Edition of "Acetates" that is being released in a jewelcase version..Another STONES piece for the week is brought to the table by an offshoot of the SODD Label apparently, called For Fans Only, and this first effort leverages an recently-surfaced tape source from on of the bands' Essen, Germany shows in October 1973..the single disc is titled "Essen 1973 Revisited"...perhaps we can get Riccar99 to chime in on what he knows here!...Speaking of Altamont Free Concert 1969 from IMP Tracklisting: DISC 1 (CD) 01. PA Sound Check with Moog Lowest generation & best quality DISC 2 (CD) THE ROLLING STONES DISC 3 (CD) THE ROLLING STONES BONUS TRACKS Lowest generation & best quality DISC 4 (DVD) ALTAMONT WAS THE NIGHTMARE ALTAMONT WEEKEND with Japanese Subtitle gALTAMONT WAS THE NIGHTMAREh ...An early-JEFF BECK GROUP title is always welcome and this week we have a Non-Label submission called "Doin' That Crazy Thing" 1CD which contains a promising July 17, 1969 audience recording from LuAnne's Club in Dallas..this show has been previously available and we're not sure how this effort will differ or if we have a legit upgrade, but we'll find out!...New from Rising Arrow this week is the RAINBOW release, "Rehearsals 1976" 1CD that promises 'amazing sound' of their preparations for the legendary 1976 World Tour with the original line-up... ...Two new ERIC CLAPTON releases to include in the mix for this week, first up is the latest from Tricone called "British Pride" 2CD which boasts 'perfect sound' as the assessment of this audience recording from Ibaraki, Japan on November 23, 1979...and, "First Orchestra Night" 2CD contains another superb audience recording of Slowhand's February 8, 1990 presentation with full orchestra at Royal Albert Hall in London -This one is on it's way from the Beano Label... ...And that is the capsule for this week of Christmas 2009...Thank you all for another interesting year of monitoring and discussing the underground bootleg activities here at HotWacks On-line. Another reminder that the Top 10 for 2009 column will post this week so that you all can upload your own comments. We wish all of you and your families a wonderful Christmas and we'll rendezvous back here next Tuesday for one more posting for '09...could there still be a surprise from labels as the curtain comes down on another year? Enjoy yourselves this week! Svengi, December 22, 2009 |
