A wonderful Who Mod Years release along with an array of Rainbow, and more... | |
...It's fun to kick off the column with something that's vibrant and seemingly very solid in the world of bootleg productions. This week, a treat...while the issuing label is unidentified/unconfirmed at time of writing - the content of THE WHO "Railway To Circus: The Mod Years 1964-1968" 2CD/DVD is indeed solid and confirmed. While you can absorb it's tracklisting below, one call-out or highlight of this set is the upgraded March 30, 1966 Music Hall De France footage which is evidently transferred from a low gen of the source tape and not the YouTube clip that surfaced a couple of years ago...very cool...so, here you go: CD DISC ONE LONG VERSION Marquee Club, London MAR. 8, 1965 TV SHOW "Ready Steady Go!" What was rumored to take place throughout the U.S. leg of "The Wall Tour 2010", finally occurred on May 12th, 2011 at The 02 in London...Joining ROGER WATERS onstage for a go at "Comfortably Numb" was Floyd-mate DAVID GILMOUR..and if that wasn't enough for the lucky crowd, NICK MASON joined them as well for "Outside The Wall", playing tambourine. The complete Waters' show that night is captured nicely on Sigma's "Defining Moment" 2CD, that includes a DVD-R video of the event "In The Presence Of Pink",pictured above...To balance that with vintage material, Sigma has also released "Osaka 1971" 2CD (below), documenting their October 9, 1971 performance at Festival Hall... ...More classic RONNIE JAMES DIO for the masses this week by way of a trio of RAINBOW titles...Tarantura has 2 new releases limited to 200 copies each, subtitled as 'Fresno Rock 'N Roll Archvies Vol.1 & Vol.2'..."Difficult To Cure" (Vol.1) single CD features their November 13, 1979 concert at Pantages/Warner's Theater in Fresno, California...and, "CA Connection" 1CD presents their May 21, 1978 show at the same Fresno venue. Pictured above is the latest from Rising Arrow, titled "Guillotine", this 4CD set features 2 different, superb audience sources of their October 27, 1977 concert at Pavillion de Paris and comes with a bonus DVD-R, "Stockholm 1977"...a whopping 7-minute fragment of "Man On The Silver Mountain" & "16th Century Greensleeves" - dubbed with audience tape audio from the Munich show on October 20th, 1977...now that's throwback bootleg production we've come to know over the years!...good thing it's a 'bonus'!...that footage does look pretty nice in the provided screenshots though... Finally tonight, Misterclaudel has issued THE BEATLES DVD, "Intertel 1966", the kind of release that's really for the hardcore BEATLES collectors as it's pretty repetitious material BUT, Misterclaudel certainly leverages the best of sources and these promo reels and outtakes of same are quite nice anyway...And, Dog N Cat Records has released THE ROLLING STONES compilation, "The Rest Of The Best" 2CD, featuring Singles and Outtakes from The Decca period, mid-to-late 60's material...thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
