...A powerful pack of titles to introduce this week but first off, we certainly mourn the loss of CLARENCE CLEMONS of SPRINGSTEEN'S E STREET BAND this past weekend. He was iconic, distinctive, the bookend, the brother, the soul and underscored the signature sound of the ESB, truly a sad occurrence and loss. ...The Godfather Records will be shipping out their next titles next week, slated to hit the channels June 30th, and the statement release for sure is the NEIL YOUNG 6CD Box Set "Road Of Plenty" - the unreleased songs from 1966-2010 and live rarities 1969-1984 compiled from excellent audience and soundboard tapes, and studio recordings, the box comes with a 44-page color booklet...There's also a couple of BOB DYLAN pieces in the batch: the DVD on the Apocalypse Sound label - "The Blood Of The Lamb", containing a previously available compilation of TV broadcasts from his gospel period, including SNL 1979, Massey Hall Toronto '80, David Letterman '84 and 4 songs from Barcelona '84 as broadcast on Spanish TV3...but also on GFR, "Live At Sydney Entertainment Centre" 2CD contains an excellent audience tape of his April 28th, 2011 show with bonus tracks from April 27th... ...continuing the GFR offerings for next week, FOO FIGHTERS "Live From Ed Sullivan Theater" 1CD soundboard of their April 12, 2011 show in New York City...then we have two recordings making their first appearance on silver disc - PINK FLOYD "Animals In Belgium" 2CD leverages another stellar audience tape of their February 20, 1977 concert at the Sportpaleis in Antwerp, Belgium and comes with a 4-page color booklet, the other first on silver is GENESIS "A Bedtime Must" 2CD with their January 20, 1973 performance at the Palasport, Reggio Emilia, Italy...the last of the GFR titles for June is THE BYRDS "Sell Your Soul To The Company", a single CD soundboard of their performance at Pacific Memorial Stadium in Stockton, California on September 20, 1970, with bonus tracks from Loyola College on April 15 and Brooklyn, New York on October 23rd, 1970... ...On the way from Misterclaudel is the PAUL McCARTNEY 2CD set, "Viva! Las Vegas 2011" documenting his recent show at the MGM Grand Arena on June 10th...New from Tarantura is the previously unavailable QUEEN recording "Get Your Knickers Off", Mr. Peach source tape from their Night At The Opera Japanese Tour Opener on March 23, 1976 in Tokyo... In non-label fare we have an appreciated WHO 2CD, "Brussels 1972" featuring a nice audience recording of their August 16th, 1972 show Forest National in Brussels, Belgium...Dog N Cat Records latest ROLLING STONES production is "Rainbow Springs" 1CD that is apparently a complete audio document of their February 11, 1973 performance in Auckland, New Zealand, featuring for the first time - the finale of "Rip This Joint", "Jumping Jack Flash" and "Street Fighting Man", at time of writing it isn't confirmed whether these are spliced in from an alternate source, or a new complete source that was used...interesting... ...The latest from Beano is ERIC CLAPTON & STEVE WINWOOD "Royal Faith Nights" 6CD captures 3 nights at Royal Albert Hall in London on May 26th, 27th, and June 1st, 2011 via superb audience tapes..On related notes, Mid Valley has three new titles to mention here as well: CLAPTON & WINWOOD "Exotic Summer" 24CD of their 2010 European Tour (mentioned here previously), DEREK & THE DOMINOS "Fillmore Double Night" 4CD from October 23 & 24, 1970 - a 40th Anniversary Numbered/Limited Edition with booklet..BLIND FAITH "Hyde Park 1969" 1CD soundboard... ...The latest on the Shades Label brings us THE MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP "The Moving Element" 2CD featuring a 'perfect' audience recording from The Budokan, Tokyo on January 23rd, 1984 and early editions come with the bonus CDR "Systems Never Failing" original master version of the stereo sounboard tape from Nagoya on January 27, 1984...And finally, the DAVID BOWIE-devoted label, Helden has a batch of new titles as well: BOWPROMO 1 STRANGE FASCINATION definitive version STATION TO GRAND ILLUSION ZIGGY OVER THE RAINBOW THEATRE 1972 SULA VIE DILEJO ...And that's the wrap for this first, official Tuesday of Summer 2011...I certainly hope it starts acting like Summer for a string of days sometime soon!...and we hope things are well where you are.
