REVIEW:

This DVD just released in Japan shows Jeff Beck section from the ARMS concerts from San Francisco and New York. About the first part of the disc, San Francisco, it has been the subject of many DVD released over the years (ARMS in San Francisco lately), however New York has never appeared on DVD before and we can just hope a full video of the performance will come out soon. There have been rumours of the fist night been filmed and this is it (surprisingly nothing about the final one). Video footage is of very good quality with maybe too much colour on San Francisco at the beginning and the audio portion is an excellent stereo soundboard. After Beck set the footage shows a full version of Page "Stairway To Heaven" where at the end of the song Clapton and Beck join him and then the full concert finale where from "Layla" onwards Wyman,Watts and everyone else comes on stage, the encore is Joe Cocker "With A Little Help From My Friends" the features Paul Rogers and Any Fairweather-Low on backing vocals and Ray Cooper on percussions. Ronnie Lane comes on stage too on the last song. New York footage has time strip on top right of video, but other than that it is very good too. "People Get Ready" in New York is dedicated to John Lennon whose death happened exactly three years before to the day,as Jeff Beck states introducing the song. Unfortunately "With  A Little Help From My Friends" fades out at the end and "Goodnight Irene" (with Ronnie Wood onstage) fades in, probably the original VHS tape had some problems. At the end of the concert both Glyn John and Bill Graham joined the people on stage while a cake and champagne glasses are served to anybody. Footage ends with Ronnie Lane helped walking off stage by Glyn Johns and Ray Cooper.

However this release is certainly worthy of attention and could/should have been on silver disc because of the excellent content, we can just hope it will come out an extended version featuring the whole New York show.
