This release is a new one but the content has somehow always been around as is the Fillmore West latest night that Jeff Beck’s Group played in late July 1968. The Jeff Beck Group   1^st North American tour opened in New York on the 14^th of June at the Fillmore East and ended on August 3^rd at the Shrine Exposition Hall in Los Angeles. This date presents the band just 5 days prior the release of Truth offering a tight and fantastic show. The tour was a great success both critically and financially. This later release offers again the concert in exceptional quality as great soundboard also with an excellent stereo separation. This version of the Jeff Beck Group had Mickey Waller on drums: after a powerful "You Shook Me" another gem is "Let Me Love You" where the contrast between Stewart raspy vocals and Beck s electric punctuation is sharp and effective while Wood bass plays pretty melodic lines supported by Waller flashy drumming. According to one review Beck switched to a Fender from "Morning Dew" onwards, this song an exercise of light and darkness with its slow tones and sudden bursts. On "Jeff's Boogie" each instrument has its solo spotlight including a bass solo by Ron Wood. This is a very nice recording broadcasted by Wolfgang s Vault too and the setlist is a bit different from what was available before as Fillmore West July 68 is concerned so we can say this release too should have been on a silver disc.
