REVIEW:

An interesting release and an incredible story behind the initial material.  According to the liner notes on the inside of the gatefold cover, a guy named Andy M. was walking down 2nd Avenue at 12th Street in the East Village of New York City.  He spots this pile of cassettes stacked up on this garbage dumpster and checks them out.  He wasn't into the bulk of what was there but, one of the tapes was blank with a hand-written label that simply read, "Jeff Buckley Stuff".  Of course here we have the tape that Andy saved from the trash bin and took home.

The first six tracks of this release is approximately 40-minutes worth  material from the cassette.  These are all cover tunes and interesting interpretations at that.  There is some aggressive acoustic steel slide-guitar work on the first two songs; the extremely rare "Parchman Farm" & Dylan's "If You See Her, Say Hello".  The Godfather Records  transferred this material to disc very nicely and in unadulterated form.

The remainder of the disc is comprised of a pretty good audience recording from Frankfurt 1995.  The only down side here is that it appears it was obtained from an Mp3 source.  It has that notorious shrill on the high-end that comes with a lossy source such as Mp3.  I don't quite understand the point of offering up material like this.  I guess you just have to look at as what it is, bonus material.  It's the first half of the disc that is "a real gem for EVERY Jeff (Buckley) fan."

Excellent Cover Art and gatefold packaging.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
