REVIEW:

This release presents two shows the new Faces did in 2011 in Belgium and Holland the first one shot by two different cameras and the second one by three. Disc One presents the Werchter concert in Belgium shot by two different tapers, the first film of the Werchter concert was recorded front of the stage from the first rows and is a reasonably good effort showing full action from the stage with a pretty steady camera (when not zooming) and good mono sound although a bit saturated. The second taper recorded the concert from right below the stage, video quality is good and steady and sound is better. At the end of the first disc there is a 10 minutes pro shot segment coming from a 2009 rebroadcast from Cultura 24 Vara-Nps tv of the 1973 Popgala that features three songs from the original Faces with Ronnie Lane which are advertised on front cover but not reported on the back cover track listing. This segment is in exceptional quality, much better than what was previously available and in 16:9, despite annoying logos on the screen. Disc Two presents the concert held in Nederland at Weerts at the Bospop Festival in three different recordings. The first one taken from the first rows with good close shots and stereo sound whose saturation is controlled by an automatic camera limiter with audio compression effects. The second taper was even closer and footage is better, however here the audio is lower as the limiter is in full action; this recording starts with "Had Me A Real Good Time" that is missing from the first film as well as "Ooh La La" and "I'd Rather Go Blind". The third film has been filmed from the right side of the stage between stage assistants, tv operators etc. and shows a different perspective from the other films; it also adds "Cindy Incidentally" and "Pool Hall Richard" to the filmed songs thus offering a full report of the concert. Sound is at times saturated but it doesn’t interfere much with the pleasure of looking at real close ups. The second disc ends with footage from backstage featuring a meeting between Ron Wood and Mick Taylor. This release presents interesting film footage from the reformed Faces early July 2011 two concerts for completist fans, maybe a real good editing work could have created a full concert report for both events.
