REVIEW:

I've seen portions of this film but never in it's entirety. 4Reel Productions have put together a nice release with "Room Full Of Hendrix"...and it's an appropriate title. (This may be a direct copy of "Royal Albert Hall/Experience London" from Cosmic Energy, but I cannot confirm as I haven't seen this personally. You can view a flipside opinion of this concert on that release here at HotWacks On-line.)

The venue is the Royal Albert Hall, of course. What makes the title fit is that the show is performed with all of the house lights on!...providing an interesting feel or dynamic to the "experience". Great performance by the band too, thought they seem at odds about the event. Particularly Hendrix. Mitch and Noel just seem to be trying to assess what the "uneasiness" is about.

The film certainly shows its' age but it's a good print that is utilized. There are cutaways to backstage and tour footage during the performance, which ads to its' cinematic feel. Kind of like the other Hendrix films that have been produced like "Plays Berkeley", etc. The sound is particularly awesome and it provides a robust backdrop to crank it up and really enjoy this DVD (in Dolby Digital OR 5.1 Surround!).

The Bonus Tracks feature 3 songs from the actual show that weren't included, or filmed for some reason. Nice audio on the bonus tracks and they are accompanied by an equally enjoyable slide-show that certainly features familiar photos but many I hadn't seen before. An enjoyable release.

I've had this DVD for a year or more and just got around to watching it. I also noticed the tension with The Experience and was wondering if this was because of the audience or issues among band members? It was cool to see and hear Chris Wood and Dave Mason of Traffic.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
