REVIEW:
This newly released no label 4 cds set offers Jagger’s stop at Nagoya during his solo Japan 88 Tour presenting both dates. The first night came out just as a cdr called Far East 5, while the second one was released by VGP as Foxy Jagger which however had both Simon Philips drum solo and Joe Satriani guitar solo missing. Nagoya first night is a clear recording although lacking some lower frequencies taken from a distance with unobtrusive audience that is heard just at the end or beginning of the songs (contrary to the VGP release of the second night); the set list has the usual mix of solo stuff and Stones covers (too many in Keith Richards opinion) with the occasional tribute that consists of Hendrix "Foxy Lady" that gave this set its name inspiration. Although many Stones purists consider Jagger solo concerts to be too much a deviation from the band s historic legacy it must be pointed out that his solo material   never had a chance to be played live and these type of concerts allow great ones like "Throwaway" and "Party Doll" together with less remarkable "War Baby" and "Radio Control" be played (and recorded) in front of an audience. Now the back up band consists of good session men with Joe Satriani, Doug Wimbish and Simon Philips in evidence and it was the first time some Stones songs were played with back up singers, a dressing that will occur from the 89 tour onwards, clear indication that the experiment was successful and that Jagger was able to convince his partners as well. The second Nagoya show is a similar recording but at the beginning the taper seems to be closer than the first one and the outcome is better

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
