REVIEW: |
The only concert held to promote Wandering Spirit in 1993 happened at New York's Webster Hall and was captured live by a local TV and is presented here by Woodstock Tapes in a nice release that offers a 4 pages booklet inside the DVD Clamshell that seems an authorized one. Audio and Video quality are great and presenting this concert in a loose environment with Jagger at ease as usual on a stage flanked by Jimmy Ripp and Frank Simes on guitar, Chuck Leavell on keyboards, Curt Bisquera on drums, John Pierce on bass, Lenny Pickett on sax and
three lady singers on backing vocals. Material focus on Jagger solo effort that has been released the day before but also include a rarely played (these days) Stones song "Have You Seen Your Mother,Baby,Standing In The Shadow?" as the final encore . There are great live versions of "Don't Tear Me Up", "Evening Gown" and "Put Me In The Trash" amongst others, all done by basically the same band that worked on the Wandering Spirit album. The concert is well played and listening to the stereo soundtrack (that has been released many times on CD) is still a pleasurable experience, even if the footage has come out before in other DVDs this effort is a recommendable one.
