REVIEW:

This Anthology set has been built from the point of view of a Keith's fan! This means there are no soppy ballads from Mick's solo albums here. Mick being a great blues performer, so included are as many of the blues done by Mick, as possible. A lot of his collaborations and guest appearances on other artists albums are in too. Most of it was remastered, not all of course  but the usual pitch, phase & level correction and some equalization where needed. But even on the new stuff like Super Heavy, it has been tried to make it a bit more quiet although general volume is high, because many songs come from Mick s official compilation and those tracks have set the volume standard.
So this is a mish-mash of official and bootleg and some pretty rare official stuff. Disc One opens with a track from Ben Waters Stu tribute album and other notable tracks are some songs off the Red Devils session, a track from John Phillips album, one from the Mustique Blues cd and a track from Jamming With Edward album featuring Ry Cooder. Coming from Jerry Lee Lewis album is the version of Evening Gown, while sourced from Don t Tear Me Up cd single released on 1 April 1993 is the song with Gary Moore. Both Too Many Cooks which gives title to this collection and Checkin Up On My Baby are the official release tracks coming from The Very Best of Mick Jagger. On Disc Two the great Peter Wolf remake of Nothing But The Wheel, some more tracks with the Red Devils, one song with brother Chris and a blues coming from Jimmy Rogers album; here there is also one song from the late February Blues at the White House, Commit A Crime (also known as What A Woman) the disc ending with the two Live Aid songs performed with Tina Turner. In this context some songs are a bit out of theme (State Of Shock, The Wild Colonial Boy) but the overall feel is that of a real compilation with sound levelled as if it was an official release.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
Great Toys For Tots
