REVIEW:

The Led Zeppelin Reunion continues to spawn bootleg titles and this recently issued 2CD set from Tangerine Records was originally going to be a DVD-Audio project. I think it's just as well it wasn't, in light of other projects covering that format.  It gives this title a chance to stand on the merits of one of the best tapes to surface from the December 10, 2007 event - it is known as "the Schoeps source", procured from about 30 feet in front of the stage, dead center.  This is the same audio as utilized in the excellent Swinging Pig DVD, "Storm London", reviewed here on these HotWacks pages: http://www.hotwacks.com/database/publish/article_2611.php

Tangerine Records didn't tamper with the recording at all, thankfully, allowing collectors a chance to own a straight transfer of the tape on silver disc.  What this tape verifies is the difficulty the event sound engineers had with getting a decent mix together!  It's probably one of the reasons there isn't going to be an official release by the band too, at least that's my belief.  Whoever these guys were, they really blew it.  The biggest gig for anybody involved with the show and they can't even get the mix together any sooner than 20 minutes into the set.  Incredible.  Anyway, we are all thankful to all the daredevils who managed to get their recorders into the high security environment to document this thing so well.  While the first half of the show is the most exciting, it's the second disc worth of music that smokes here.  Everyone who even remotely enjoys rock music should have this performance in their collection!  And these guys are in their 60's!  An amazing feat and I'm still proud that they slayed so thoroughly on this particular night.  I smile the whole time I'm listening to this show.  The recording here certainly is responsible too, it's a great tape, period.

The packaging is a heavy grade cardboard trifold digipack that leverages many familiar photos from the Reunion event.  All very fitting except the slightly cheesy, superimposed Zeppelin on the front cover -thus the half point deduction!  It's so trivial but it struck me as a bit cliche.  Aside from that it's a classy affair and a great title to seek out of the Reunion show.  Crank it up and smile!

This is one of my favorite silver releases for what may possibly be the last Zeppelin show and thanks Tangerine Records for not tweaking the sound.

I totally agree with Ledman's Comment. What makes this release so great is the fact that they didn't tweak the sound like so many other labels. I hope they continue to release shows without tweaking the sound.

I think this is the Third eye studio tweaked version of this source. Sounds better than the raw source to me

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
