REVIEW:

This is a U.S. produced DVD which leverages the classic bootleg label moniker, The Swinging Pig and is the first effort from commercial bootleg labels to enhance the stellar Third Eye Productions audience-shot, High Definition footage.

The results of the merging of the two sources is overall, successful.  The first thing noticed was that there was generational loss from the original TEP High Definition footage, very slightly.  Just enough to reduce it to normal clarity and that is of no issue.  The issue with the video in this merge is that the original 16:9 resolution gets "squashed" a bit and is intermittently noticeable.  The upgrade and payoff with this DVD is the synching of the heralded "Schoeps" audience recording which was recorded dead center about 30 feet from the front of the stage.  And it is killer in this format.  It greatly enhances the experience of living this dream show again, but the compressed picture periodically injected a dose of annoyance into the session for this reviewer.  I couldn't help thinking what a superb achievement it would be to actually sync this audience tape with the high definition video source without the clarity loss and any compression.

The cover art obviously borrows from the official Mothership collection but the interior color montage of Newspaper and Magazine Cover stories and articles that documented the event are borrowed from the original Third Eye Production insert.  A very nice graphical layout and beautiful digipack for a really great DVD.  Don't let my criticism disuade you from picking this one up.  It's priced right and a really professional effort.  The only bummer is that this Swinging Pig producer didn't also include the "England Tour" bonus from the Third Eye product.

If this is lifted from the Blu ray source then TS had the schoeps source professionally 'tweaked' in the studio. It sounds better to me than the raw tape

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
