REVIEW: |
This
release presents a nice concert from John Mayall s Bluesbreakers 1982 reunion
tour in North Tonawanda (near Buffalo) where they played a good show on a
small round stage that had a ring all around. John Mayall s band consisted of Mick
Taylor on guitar, John McVie on bass and Colin Allen on drums plus Mayall
himself on vocals, keyboards, guitar and harp. The video footage is in colour
and pretty steady even if it seems sourced from a VHS tape with mono
soundtrack; at times there are good zooms that allow a better look at the
musicians playing; technically the playing is very good with Taylor standing
out because of his great solos which colour about every song; John Mayall is
has a quite interesting performance too playing mouth harp solos while playing
keyboards thanks to a particular strap device that allows him to blow without
holding the harp in his hands. As usual for Mayall s concerts the show ends
with Room To Move which is not mentioned in the track listings; on this song Taylor plays some
keyboards too alongside Mayall. The Disc ends with a couple of tracks from the
2008 Montreux Jazz Festival that featured the late Gary Moore as guest.
