REVIEW:

While watching this really superb disc, I realized how deep my dislike for Sting really goes!  I used to just love The Police and when I took a look at the setlist for this show, I thought...wow!, this will be great!  And it is!...don't get me wrong.  It's just that this is the period in their existence where they were becoming one of the biggest acts in the world and frankly, it's annoying.  Sting is now a rock star and the others just try to co-exist.  The funniest thing is the camera shot they use from behind Stewart Copeland's Drum Kit.  The 3 tom-toms have "F-U-C-K", "O-F-F" & "Y-O-U" spelled out in black electric tape on each of the drums.  I have heard he did this to enhance the passion of his drumming because he was so annoyed with Sting too!  Hilarious.

Anyway, this is of course a Pro-shot Broadcast from a Japanese source.  It could almost be a laserdisc dub but I am unable to confirm that.  In any case, it is superb in the picture clarity and the sound mix.  The band is just a bit thin sounding, even when they add the horns for "Spirits In The Material World".  Sting makes reference to having a severe bout with nerves because Gateshead is just across the water from where he grew up.  He is back home and he gives it all, on all levels I might add!

The setlist is outstanding and the energy of the band is really off the charts.  It's just a little "commercial" in presentation for me.  If you dig The Police this is one DVD-R I can certainly recommend.  The only negative is that it is on DVD-R and after some quirkiness with the disc, it played fine.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
