REVIEW:

This no label release presents again the Stones live in 1969 on their American Tour offering soundboard tracks and some including rare ones that have in common the fact that there are no overdubs, this is a killer live album consisting of 69 tour songs!
The sources are the Complete Edition of GET YER YA-YA’S OUT!m but also Gimme Shelter soundtrack using both the DVD and the VHS releases. That is, some songs have been overdubbed on the live album, including Mick and Keith s vocals, but also the mix presents great songs worth mentioning like the opening track with each guitar having its dedicated channel. Interesting is also the rough mix of Gimme Shelter well-crafted from Altamont which was released in the famous underground album A SHOT OF SALVATION . It must also be noted that the version of   Little Queenie here was used as a promo film in 1970, but it was probably Glyn Johns himself that opted for a wide stereo approach ((check Taylor solo on Satisfaction). About Stray Cat Blues it came out by mistake in Germany in 2002 missing the first verse, thus becoming quite a rarity in this form. In addition to that the sound of the movie is more attractive than  GYYYO because the overall bass is much more warm. Some tracks have been merged from different dates (Honky Tonk Women from Madison Square Garden, New York 27th & 28th November 2nd Show) and Satisfaction (Madison Square Garden, New York 28th November 1st & 2nd Show) due to the fact that on Gimme Shelter they were not complete; the version of Carol comes from Gimme Shelter VHS, different from the one on the DVD, also Street Fighting Man had some talking on the film version.
A great effort has been done when compiling this release in adjusting each song thoroughly. Unfortunately Sympathy for the Devil was not complete in the movie, so instead of this live performance, Gimme Shelter from the movie has been selected.
However Sympathy for the Devil is present as bonus track, together with other 2 songs from Detroit that are presented in great sound, although in mono. The same can be said for Jumping Jack Flash from London Saville Theatre. The sound of these video tracks is greatly improved and we cannot but wonder if the actual videos will pop up sometime; so far the only song from Detroit 69 is a black & white shabby Little Queenie, such great sounding tracks should look good on video as well.
