REVIEW:

This release presents the newly found 1969 tracks/concerts coupled with some official materials enhancement that surely will delight Stones fans. Disc One presents the famous Abkco Copyright Preservation tracks listed their own way which still presents a small amount of that disturbing tone Abkco added to cover the music in the background that could be heard on each song s quietest moments; this is certainly not the cleanest version of these tracks, plus there are still mistakes in the songs sources, Sympathy For The Devil still said to come from April 68 instead of December 68 with Ruby Tuesday when they were rehearsed for the upcoming Rock n Roll Circus. At the end of this disc there is the inclusion of Sympathy For The Devil broadcasted by Radio Veronica on July 15, 1969, God knows why they wrote this comes from May 7th 1969, before the Hyde Park show! In fact the so called radio edit version of   Sympathy For The Devil (11.10 minutes) is stereo. Disc Two presents the Hyde Park 69 soundtrack, taken from the recent DVD/Blu Ray official release released on Sweet Summer Sun in 2015 and on the From The Vault series in 2016 which presented a stereo version; amazingly no cd was officially released from this latest versions so here come bootleggers providing a rip and where possible the stereo tracks have been used, of course there are talks over some songs (I m Free) because in the film there are interviews over music. For some reason Midnight Rambler does not come after Honky Tonk Women as in the show setlist but just before Sympathy For The Devil, also it is split in two in the track list (but not on the booklet), I wonder why they did not join the 2 parts in one single track. Street Fighting Man too is out of place. Disc Three is the Oakland 69 2nd show matrix release that came out last year and that features a merge of two audience sources that created a stereo sound, originally released as Liver Than You’ll Ever Be Stereo by Nite Owl 2018-03. Disc Four presents the newly released MSG full concert from the 27th of November, Disc Five what is available from the 1st show of the 28th using mainly tracks from Ya Ya s and Gimme Shelter soundtrack while on Disc Six there is the complete MSG show from 28th November evening. The concert on Disc Seven comes from Boston and is a newly available recording of Boston 29th November 2nd show unfortunately in mono. The last 2 discs are the Altamont recordings that came from Abkco Copyright Preservation, a strange way to claim rights from an audience recording that undoubtedly does not belong to that company. A nice box set that puts together all the great live tracks from the Stones 69 Tour, leaving out just the soundboard tracks from Altamont that have surfaced over the years; this would be a commendable effort had not the label just copied a fan to fan project recently posted on IORR message board.
