REVIEW: |
When Got to
be a Joker vinyl bootleg was discovered by Stones fans it was soon found out
that there was
an IEM recording in, so
someone ripped the content and posted it on a well known message board, however
the speed was not perfect. That version was soon after reworked improving the
sound., however the proposed deceleration
(2,2%) seemed to be a little bit too much. After doing some tests using
Scooter and DAC versions it was found out that with a 1,456% deceleration using
Audacity the songs could be synchronized with the previous sources, it was
decided to make a mix of both sources. Here on the left channel there is DAC
version, while on the right channel the decelerated IEM version; this is great
because the audience recording helps supplementing guitars recorded low on the IEM
recording.
On the new IEM version there were gaps between many songs (often 10 to 30
seconds had been deleted; in order to rebuild the first part of the concert it
was decided to use patches coming from the DAC version, channels have been
duplicated to get a punchier sound, so here is this new Frankenstein mix, it is
also possible of course in case just the mixing parts would be required, to
delete the patches from the DAC version.
The Desert Trip concert also known as Coachella was released as a professional
cdr called Desert Trip, October 7,2016, then as Desert Trip Weekend 1 (Exile
EXCDR20161007) in a sets that included also a DVD-R of the concert. On silver
it was released as In The Desert
Weekend
I (Goldplate GP 1602), then as Desert Trip including also the second concert
(WLR DIR 216) housed in a long digipack box and of course as Ride em On Down
(DAC 176) which has been used on this release and on vinyl on Got to be a Joker
(RS 001) which offered the IEM source for this matrix. Talking about this
release, this is a nice job providing an interesting matrix of some tracks from
this concert, since many other acts that played on Desert Trip had been
recorded using IEM sources it is possible the rest of the concert would eventually
show up.
