REVIEW:

This release from Empress Valley presents again IEM matrix recordings from the latest Stones London appearances but since it comes out 5 months after the concerts collectors could have expected to be a bit better. Contrary to Xavel productions here we can better hear Charlie Watts drums and the overall sound is better, although some collector has complained that Jagger vocals are not much upfront as in the other releases; however sound output is quite good, all instruments well mixed and thanks to a great audience recording the result is a nice recording which comes out loud and clear presenting a lively concert offered in the best possible audio conditions. At times though the audience is too high on the mix (end of Ride em On Down through the beginning of Under My Thumb) as if they did want the listener to listen to such comments, guitars are not that prominent either, that being an issue especially for those that love their sound in the Stones performances. It can be said that Darryl Jones bass playing really shines here, especially on Midnight Rambler and    Jumping Jack Flash where his dynamic notes support the whole song donating new power to it. The second London show starts with Jumping Jack Flash which has many sound drops throughout starting from 2.00 minutes through the end, it seems some IEM problem happened; there are some too prominent backing vocals too, like on Start Me Up where we can listen to (Chuck Leavell?) someone higher in the mix than Jagger himself.

The last set is the Twickenham concert, which was the last show of the UK Tour here for the first time in excellent quasi soundboard shape, this is an interesting concert with James Bay as guest on Beast Of Burden, the band plays a nice set with that songs and Bitch back in the setlist, however the most interesting track are here on Side Six, 4 secret tracks; they are rehearsals recorded from IEM sources, unfortunately at times the signal is lost and we get unwanted noises. The first one is Let s Spend The Night Together, next are three takes of Just Your Fool, the first one lasts 1 minute, the second one just 26 seconds long.

Packaging is quite elaborate, there is front and back cover of the box which holds 3 different 2 discs sets, each sporting its own dedicated cover, however there are mistakes on covers too, as on Disc Five where instead of Before They Make Me Run the cover says The Worst. Another oddity is the fact that the bonus tracks on Disc Six are not named, let alone the fact that Track 8 (Audience waiting for the encore) is not mentioned on Disc Eight, so if you select Track 9 instead of Secret Track 1 you will get Satisfaction. All this speaks volume on an inaccurate release which, had it come out a few weeks after the concert, could somehow been justified, 5 months after it is not.
