REVIEW:

The latest release from Cpt.Acid is Sticky Beggars Bleed In Exile Vol 2. another project from the golden era of The Stones 1968-72. As usual phase, pitch and level correction have been applied; in the end everything has been equalized. Disc One begins with the early version of Gimme Shelter featuring Keith Richards on vocals, followed by the alternate version of No Expectations. Sway is the alternate guitar mix, Salt Of The Earth is the alternate mix as Sympathy For The Devil that is an edit; same for You Can t Always Get What You Want which is the US single version without choir introduction. Turd On The Run is a long version take (2.51) followed by a live alternate mix version of Love In Vain. Bitch is an alternate mix, London Jam is an outtake followed by the early version of Street Fighting Man and Keith Richards on piano from 77, not from 69 as stated on cover. Sweet Black Angel is the instrumental backing track, Stray Cat Blues is the alternate mix and I Don’t Know The Reason Why the longer version of the 69 outtake. Disc Two opens with the early vocals mix of Dead Flowers, the backing track of Jumping Jack Flash, an early version of Loving Cup. I’m Yours And I’m Hers comes from the Hyde Park show, Blood Red Wine and Who Am I? are the famous outtakes, Street Fighting Man the alternate mix from the US 7” single, Soul Survivor features Keith Richards on vocals in the early mix of this song, John’s Jam comes from the Montreux Rehearsals, Sweet Virginia features Bobby Keys on sax in this early version without back-up vocals, begun at Olympic Sound Studios, May 12-June 5, 1969 and at the time entitled Candlewick Bedspread ; I Don’t Care has just Jagger on piano, Ventilator Blues a rehearsal take, Aladdin Story the well known outtake that has been officially released under the name of So Divine, Child Of The Moon is the backing track like Let It Loose, while Uptight/Satisfaction is the live combination recorded at Philadelphia in 1972.
Soundwise this collection of tracks runs very smoothly offering an excellent sound output throughout, regardless if the songs are mono or stereo with no hiss on tracks we all remember were full of like Sweet Black Angel and Let It Loose backing tracks. Packaging is nice, but there are many errors on recording dates and many of the mono tracks have not been identified on cover.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
