REVIEW:

This release, aptly but unimaginatively titled The Complete Liver Than You ll Ever Be contains both Oakland 69 performances . About the first show it was released  at first on a tape called Wish You Were Here which featured the 1st generation recording of the show; then in 1994 as   Liver Than They ll Ever Be both on vinyl (OBR 305 020) and cd (OBR 305 CD 020), then Bring It Back Aliver (Gold Standard 94-14-05) with the last 2 songs switched, then Secret Garden (Oil Well RSC CD 076), Out Of Joint (Black n Blue 2004-05), Pot Boiler (VGP 265) which was later remastered showing a version without drops in Jumping Jack Flash and You Gotta Move, on vinyl in 2011 was released as Liver Than You ll Ever Been (Swinging Pig 500 88/2) Liver Than You ll Ever Be (Tarantura TCDRS 1-2) including the second concert and the same is valid for Liver Than You ll Ever Be (SODD 13), Even More Liver Than You ll Ever Be (Beelzebub Rec.138-140), The Complete Liver Than You ll Ever Be (Dasuje NHK), In Concert (WLR   2160), 3 tracks from the first show and 1 from the second can also be found on The First Decade (Big Music BigBox03) all out of print of course. Unfortunately just a master recording of this concert exists which does not require any remarkably elaborate re-mastering process due to its high sound quality; that has precluded to perform the same trick on the first show as well. Since this was a great sounding work, there is not a noticeable difference from the previously available recording, however this too has been processed in order to correct some dropouts. The first show was originally recorded in mono by the TMOQ founder in person, however this recording has been speed corrected, slowing it of about 2 seconds a song, hence its total length is about 30 seconds longer than before.

The second disc is a copy of Nite Owl Production stereo matrix of the second with pitch adjusted since it was believed to be too high. The sources are Liver Than You ll Ever Be Complete Edition (4 cd, DAC-116) on the left channel, TMOQ source from disc 4, an alternate source from disc 2 in the right channel and for the acoustic songs. Of course on the second concert there is Gimme Shelter that was not featured in the first show. it must be noted that the beginning of I m Free was missing here, replaced by ome 40 seconds from the 1st concert.

Two songs and  Live With Me come from Bill Graham Soundboard tape from Disc 4, while all the rest is taken from DAC Liver Than You ll Ever Be Complete Edition. All was skilfully synchronized including the excellent recorded audience sources and the soundboard tracks. Since the content was recorded from a distance, the tapes had different speed and so today s technology has allowed this synchronization and therefore we got a pseudo-stereo release of Liver. The source used by the producer is a high quality one, however the introduction of the second show was not captured on the original tape, and in this release likewise it is taken from the first show.

Funny note on packaging, the inside jacket shows a copy of the Uher stereo recorder, however the original TMOQ recording was taped using the mono recorder, maybe they wanted to show this later version because of the included stereo matrix?
