REVIEW: |
This newly
released ep presents 4 tracks, all recorded with live vocals over a
pre-recorded backing track for the BBC tv programme Top of the Pops. Side One
presents two hits that were recorded in 1967 from February through October at
the Olympic studios during the Satanic sessions; here the backing track of She’s
A Rainbow is certainly a new version while 2.000 Lights Years From Home is just
an edit of the studio master, but we get the audience applauding at the end. Conversely,
Let’s Spend The Night Together and Have You Seen Your Mother are more pop
oriented and according to the sleeve notes the latter had Keith Richards
unhappy with the studio rhythm track. Beautifully packaged this is yet another treat
for collectors.
