REVIEW:

Ah, the Devils & Dust Tour.   I actually enjoyed these shows more than I thought I would.   Before hearing anything, I felt Bruce would be treading the same ground he did ten years ago on the Ghost of Tom Joad Tour.   However after hearing a few shows from this tour, I changed my view.   I feel there is more variation here then on the Joad tour.   In addition (as always) Springsteen puts his heart and soul into every song and toys around with the arrangements to keep things interesting.   During the tour, he would play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, banjo, harmonica, piano, electric piano and pump organ.   However, most satisfying for long time fans would be the song selection.   Springsteen really dug deep into his forgotten classics - many of these songs have not been played in over 30 years!   Look above at the song list and this should be reason enough to get.

As far as quality, all songs are audience sourced but sound terrific (obviously some better than others).   The 3 CDs are housed in a fat-boy jewel case with a nice booklet with photos, etc.   It seems Crystal Cats concept for this was to present the rarities played over the course of the European tour in contrast to the standard Devils & Dust tunes that were played nightly.   If you want that, I would suggest Paris Dust Night from June 20, 2005.   Sound on there is excellent and most of the album is covered.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
Great Toys For Tots
