REVIEW:

Having been dissapointed by the fake 5.1 sound on the version that was on Dime recently I put all my money on the Godfather and again he delivers the goods. Dancing In The Parc has eliminated the poor 5.1 sound on the "original" with an excellent Linear PCM Stereo soundtrack that suits this excellent pro shot from the Born In The USA tour in Europe. So far we only had the lackluster and incomplete  Toronto '85 proshot of this tour until recently, with the excellent Verona and  Stockholm proshots from '93 this gem was released to the fans. Apocalypse Sound did the right thing and left the original recording untouched except for the soundtrack that needed improvement and released show on DVD9 to preserve the quality. Kudos to them for investing in a more expensive format to present this show in the form it deserves.

As said quality of the picture and sound is excellent and a treat to watch. The concert is an average outdoor BITUSA show but with its moments. While Bruce's speeches before songs come over a bit rushy and uninspired like h e's reading them the music is very inspired. Especially "Shut Out The Light", "Trapped" , the underrated "Cover Me" , "I'm On Fire" and a touching "Can't Help Falling In Love" stand out during this performance.

Overall a great new title that is now already a candidate for the best (DVD) release of 2007 together with The Lost TV Special DVD on Apocalypse Sound of the Stockholm/Milton Keynes 1993 pro shot that's also out on DVD9 and will be reviewed on these HotWacks pages.

The quality is excellent and there are many great performances but to me it shows Bruce at an awkward time. Then again, the 80's were tough for alot of 70's bands trying to find their niche and I think Bruce was no different. To my ears, I think the synthesizer kills the classic rock and roll sound. (I didn't say keyboards) Too many acts were trying to mimic Duran Duran and The Human League. Jefferson Starship (later Starship) is a prime example of how far a band can fall.
