Hello, it's me again your Devils & Dust Tour reviewer. For now, this is the last one I'll do unless someone comes up with a stunning release of the Cleveland, May 15, 2005 show with "Stolen Car" and "Wreck On The Highway". It's out as an excellent Cd-R from DGP but I want it on factory pressed CD. If anyone has any details on such release...please contact me or reply to this review. Enough of that and on with the review.
A show opening with a superb rendition of "Tunnel Of Love" opening, can't go wrong. And the show turns into one of the best of the tour. "Sherry Darling", "CYNTHIA"...uh I'll type that again... "CYNTHIA" (no it isn't on this CD twice but it is such a rarity and stunning performance I had to name it twice), "One Step Up", "Wish I Were Blind" and "Nothing Man" are among the best performances of the tour.
Crystal Cat has The Godfather hot on its heels but they strike back with this superb sounding recording of this show. The audio here is beautifully balanced, beautifully deep and with excellent highs and lows, Bruce's voice upfront with the guitars rattling your bones or bringing tears to your eyes. It's a stunning release of an excellent show. The Bonus Tracks from another great show a few days earlier in Columbus are just as amazing: "Lift Me Up", "Back In Your Arms", "When You're Alone" and "Valentine's Day" make it worth the purchase alone.
Crystal Cat thought they were king but out of nowhere came The Godfather Records and that shook things up like only a Godfather can. CC had to stay sharp or maybe even become "sharp" again. The only winners are the buyers that now have two top class labels bringing us amazing Springsteen releases.
