REVIEW:

This new release is an anthology of Taylor s performances in 2012 mostly with the Ben Waters Band on its German tour in late January; it starts with two songs from Mettmann whose video and audio quality are pretty good, Taylor is on slide guitar for Little Queenie. Then there is a medley of songs (You Don t Love Me, Baby-Shake Your Hips-Boogie Chillen) from Esslingen that seems to have been recorded from a cell.phone with the audio part better than the video. Two more songs come from the concert in Dessau and these are recorded like the other ones from the audience but certainly in very good video and audio quality, unfortunately Route 66 is cut at the end: Taylor s playing is really good here. After there are three songs from York, England and this time is Taylor s band which consists of Michael Bailey on bass, Jeff Allen on drums, Ronnie Johnson on second guitar and Zoot Money (Zombies) on keyboards: this footage too is excellent, the best of the lot, too bad the whole show doesn t circulate; here again one song, Goin South, is cut after 7.29 minutes and then there is the encore No Expectations. The song from the Iridium Jazz Club in New York comes from one concert where Bernard Purdie played the drums and this happened only from 9 through 11 May as he later was replaced by Jeff Allen; however Taylor says at the end: This is the first of our 6 nights, so it must come from the 9th May concert, either from the 1st or 2nd set. The song is a short (final) excerpt from Fed Up With The Blues where Taylor plays Freddie King s Tore Down. Next is the private film of the backstage meeting with Ron Wood from the Bospop Festival in Holland from 2011 after the Faces concert which lasts just 1.16 minutes. As a final bonus the audio of Coming Together a song written and played by Ron Wood with Taylor and Kelly Jones from Stereophonics that was included in the soundtrack of the latest CSI Miami episode Habeas Corpse and that was produced by former Stones engineer Chris Kimsey: on screen there is a nice shot of a re-worked Decca single label. This is a nice compilation of Taylor s recent activities which fans hope could be expanded properly in the near future.
