REVIEW:

In order t o pay tribute to Richard ‘Dickey’ Betts (12th December 1943 – 14th April 2024) it was decided to upload this concert from November 1st, 1988 which was held at the Lone Star Roadhouse. Since it was broadcasted live through US FM radio (DC101), the recording is of very good quality plus it includes other artists guesting: Warren Haynes who is another excellent guitarist and also Matt Abts (who later joined him as drummer in Gov't Mule); there is also Rick Derringer but the icing on the cake is the participation of Jack Bruce and Mick Taylor. For this show a full audience recording (source #1) and a partial soundboard recording (source #2) were available. Thankfully the ‘pre-fm’ version of the show (source #3) was discovered. Out of those 9 titles that had been officially published in a limited edition 2LP-release to tie in with the Record Store Day 2018: Live At The Lone Star Roadhouse (Rock Beat Records ROC-3420) it was decided to make a merge of sources #2 and #3 which are different from the officially published recording and to try to rebuild the complete show. The l ine-up was: Mick Taylor on guitar, Dickey Betts on guitar and vocals, Jack Bruce on bass and vocals), Warren Haynes on guitar and vocals, Johnny Neel on keyboards, Marty Privette on bass, Matt Abts on drums, Rick Derringer on guitar and vocals. All tracks have been de-clicked, channel rebalanced (from +20% for the left channel to +20 % for the right), some micro-gaps between the tracks removed and the transitions between them reworked, so that now they start with a song (except when they were faded in/out), which are before and after Lover Man, before and after Jessica and before Spoonful.

On the merges, the partial version (source #2) is on the right channel and was synced using the 'pre-fm'-version (source #3) on the left channel as a reference. This is a fantastic concert, well recorded too.
