REVIEW: |
The second
volume dedicated to Mick Taylor rare recordings presents an incomplete document
of Taylor s visit to Madrid in 2013
a concert which is, as per back cover information, the
penultimate concert Taylor played with his band up until now (2018), the last
one was played the day after this gig at Girona. The band consists of
Taylor
on guitar and vocals, Hamish Stuart on guitar and vocals, Max Middleton on keyboards,
Michael Bailey on bass and Jeff Allen on drums. At first these tracks were
located on the V Mobile site, then other versions appeared from the same
concert on YouTube, therefore the duplicates were used to supplement some
tracks, always using the best possible version as the main one. This time the
sound output is stereo and very good as well, therefore enhancing listening
pleasure for this good find. Here are track by track comments taken from the
inner cover:
Twisted
Sister lasts 10.11 and is complete, Fed Up With The Blues (version 1) lasts 7.19
and is complete too but had been restored from 30 seconds through 1.30 (the
sound almost disappeared from one channel so it was duplicated from the «good»
one). To complete the track the last 10 seconds coming from the 2nd
version were added. On You Shook Me the 1st version was used here
and, to complete the track, the last 3 seconds come from the 2nd
version. Blind Willie McTell which includes snippets of Layla and All Along The
Watchtower
is 12.16 minutes long and has
been supplemented by the last 8 seconds from the 2nd version. The 7.30
minutes version of Can t You Hear Me Knocking, one of the shortest ones played
live is in fact a mix
of the better
sounding 1st version which was incomplete and the complete but not
as good quality 2nd version. Finally No Expectations is the encore
which lasts 6.52 minutes and is complete (contrary to what is written in the
notes that said it ended brutally, so we can say that the definition of
incomplete document of this show is quite wrong. |
