REVIEW:

This is the last volume of this series that presents the Tumblin’ Dice show from New York’s The Grand in early May 93. The line-up here was: Mick Taylor on guitar and vocals, Babi Floyd on vocals, Bobby Keys on sax, Ivan Neville on keyboards and vocals, Michael Neville on bass and Adolfo ‘Fofi’ Lancha on drums.

A recording of this show had already been posted as Volume 6 of the Tumblin’ Dice series but Maidenlane recording is a good alternative to this version. It has been edited, de-clicked, amplified, equalized (+30 to +45% to the left channel) and speed corrected (Maidenlane recording has to be decelerated by -7,7%). There are two tape flips: one after You Shook Me and another one after Soul Serenade but no music is lost. Note that on this version Goin’ South is complete while there was a tape flip in the middle of the previous version. This is a nice recording which presents a rather different setlist, but Taylor is still playing greatly.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
