REVIEW: |
In this volume we get a double bill; the first 4 tracks are the merged
version, the second the mixes. In this concert the l
ine-up was: Mick Taylor on guitar, Jon
Young on vocals, keyboards and congas, Wayne Hammond on bass and Mike Cullen on
drums.
Recording information: from taper’s master coming from
a Sony WMD-3 recorder (using included clip-on stereo mic). A
recording
of this show had already circulated;
In is initial form, Maidenlane’s recording
was not interesting because it had an average sound quality and because only
the first part had been recorded. To add value to it, it was decided to make
different assays to merge and mixed it with the other known version. The merged
version has
on left
channel the known source & on the right channel Maidenlane’s source which has
been de-clicked, its sound boosted and tracks edited. The other source too was
de-clicked, channels rebalanced and the transitions between the tracks
reworked. To synchronize both sources Maidenlane’s source had to be decelerated
by around -3 to -3,5%. Personally I like the mixed version better because they
blend better offering a more fluid sound.
