REVIEW: |
In this volume we get the Lone Star Café 29 December 1986 1st show; m
erging the two sources gave a very
good sound so it was decided to post this version. Apart from the Maidenlane version,
the other version comes from a cd-r: it was chosen because it is lossless when all
the others were lossy… but the speed was too fast … from +7% to more than
+11,5% (it differs by track
and it fluctuates within a track) so it
required working on 30 second segments. The first track (intro & tuning) comes
from a mix of both sources (there were too many fluctuations for merging it). The
first 10 seconds of Will Go Round In Circles are from the Maidenlane source because
they were missing in the other source. Mote that on Hi Heel Sneakers it is the first
time Mick Taylor sings live in a show (“killing time” or “temporizing” while an
equipment issue onstage was resolved); however, this treatment presents a great
recording with great stereo separation that helps enjoying it. This show is
particular because it includes the rarely played Spanish where Taylor shows all
his dexterity.
