REVIEW:

Thanks to Japanese TV rebroadcast WOW has recently released the Expo 92 Seville show in full with great video and audio output: two Dual Layer DVDs that hold the whole 4 nights of the 1991 shows. The first part of Disc one feature the Blues Night that has Robert Cray, Albert Collins, Bo Diddley, B.B.King as guest stars that play their set supported by a house band that features Dave Edmunds, Steve Cropper and Chuck Leavell. The final jam features all artists with solos from B.B.King, Robert Cray, Albert Collins, Bo Diddley, Dave Edmunds, the Miami Horns and Chuck Leavell. The cameramen are very good with great shots but unfortunately the director Ken O’Neill at times doesn t seem to know who to shoot and often it is not the guitar player that is soloing. The second part of Disc one features the Experimental Concert that had Jack Bruce, Joe Cocker, Phil Manzanera that is almost always present, Bob Dylan with Richard Thompson and finally Keith Richards that plays with all his Winos except for missing Waddy Wachtel. The final jam on "Can't Turn You Loose" sees Steve Cropper directing solos from all participants that include Robert Cray too. Disc Two is split between Rock and Hard rock, part one with Roger McGuinn followed by Richard Thompson, les Paul, Robbie Robertson playing New Orleans style and Roger Waters that represents most of the hits he had with Pink Floyd with Snowy White on lead guitar before the final jam on a Jimmy Reed song retitled "Running and Hiding". The Hard Rock night features Joe Satriani, Brian May, Steve Vai and Joe Walsh alone and together in various combinations with Rick Wakeman on keyboards and the late Cozy Powll on drums playing a stellar " Rocky Mountain Way" before Paul Rodgers jumps on stage to sing "All Right Now". Then the final tribute jam is left to Hendrix "Hey Joe" anthem. This double disc set comes in a digipack Keith Richards cover hold in a Dylan cover cardboard box, hence the misleading title, but it is a very nice product regardless of the confusion over the players.

This is not the entire Expo '92. Missing is one complete show featuring George Duke, John McLaughlin, Paco De Lucia, Larry Coryell, Rickie Lee Jones and George Benson. To bad they missed this as this is one of the better concerts of the run.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
