REVIEW:

This release presents the video recording of the Save the 100 Club night in London from 1 December   2010; the DVD starts with a BBC report presenting the upcoming event, then a brief spot for the Steven Dale Petit & Mick Taylor May 2009 tour. Finally on stage at the 100 Club in London with what is a mix of two different sources, unfortunately not in the right sequence as we start with a short tune by Stephen Dale Petit, then he does introduce Mick Taylor that performs "You Shook Me" with Chris Barber on trombone. Video and audio quality are very good, taper positioned at the side of the small stage very close, footage steady. Next we see Mick Taylor playing with Dick Taylor (no relation), the bass player that left the Stones before Wyman to join the Pretty Things. Then we have "It's All Good" followed again by the beginning of "You Shook Me" shot from a strict angle, followed by "People Talk" sung by Stephen Dale Petit. It is Chris Barber turn to hit the main spot playing his song "Going Up The River" leading the same line up. Another brief excerpt of "You Shook Me" sung by Mick Taylor is next before Ron Wood joins the players on stage with "Fancy Pants Blues" as he calls it where he trades licks with Mick Taylor and eventually plays the harmonica. Howlin Wolf 's "Spoonful" is next (also on Wood recent solo album) with a sometime saturated audio, followed by "Stop Breaking Down" sung by Mick Taylor; and the last two tracks are "Stepping Out", A John Mayall song but this does not come from the 100 Club but from Islington, on the 29th of July 2010 where Taylor jammed with Stephen Dale Petit; here Taylor at the end of the song makes a funny comment: "See you at the 163rd John Mayall birthday!". The final song from the 100 Club night is "Shaking All Over" a rendition of the classic Johnny Kid & the Pirates. After that we get yet another song from Islington 2010 off You Tube which incidentally was played before "Steppin Out" and is "It's All Good-You Shook Me". Then we get a number of 100 Club songs from another source of this show shot from front of a stage, a bit on the back. After that as a bonus there is again a medley of songs from Islington (why not one after the other?) and a version of "Stop Breaking Down" from Glasgow 2009 again with Taylor joining S.D.Petit and then a slideshow of Little Boy Blue And The Blues Boys on the music of the group second demo session from January 62 when Dick Taylor was with them. This release presents an enjoyable set of performances, historically important as well but the only critique to it is that it is a proper lack of editing of a jumbled assembly of items, which placed in the right order would have given a better picture of that memorable night.
