This release presents the recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2012 Induction Ceremony in two discs as broadcasted by HBO.   The first  Disc starts with Green Day playing Letter Bomb, then a retrospective of the previous 27 years introduced by Jann Wenner. The first act to be induced is Freddie King who is been introduced by ZZ Top Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill with Freddy King s daughter coming on stage for the acceptance speech. Going Down sees the two ZZ Top players performing together with Derek Trucks and Joe Bonamassa. It is then Donovan s turn to be inducted by John Mellencamp, Donovan himself plays an acoustic version of Sunshine Superman and with Mellencamp an electric version of Season Of The Witch. A moved Bette Midler pays then tribute to the late Laura Nyro, Sarah Bareilles plays Stoney End at the piano. Hip Hop next when the Beastie Boys (minus the late Adam Yauth) are then inducted by Chuck D.from Public Enemy and LL Cool J: No Sleep Till Brooklyn, So Watcha Want and Sabotage are played in a medley by Roots, Kid Rock, Travie McCoy and Gym Class Heroes; another female songwriter, Carol King then inducts the late Don Kirschner, a famous tv producer famous mostly for his Rock Concert, with his wife accepting the honour; the song At Last sung by Ledisi that closes Disc One. During this song images of great artists and personalities that passed away are shown on the screen.

Disc Two opens with Steve Van Zant inducting The Small Faces and Faces, Ron Wood, Ian McLagan and Kenny Jones come on stage to accept the honour together with Steve Marriot s daughter, then tgo on playing Stay With Me with Mick Hucknall replacing Rod Stewart on vocals.

Next comes Smoking Robinson inducting a bunch of groups and bands like The Blue Caps, The Comets, The Midnighters,The Miracles (of which he himself was a member for 20 years),The Famous Flames the famous group that used to be James Brown backing band. Green Day are back to induct Guns and Roses, of which two of their most known members are absent: whoever is present plays Sweet Child Of Mine and Paradise City. A particular induction this year is that of the recording engineers, for this is Robbie Robertson s turn to come up on stage (Cosimo Matassa, Glyn Johns and Tom Dowd the first two showed up while the latter s daughter accepted the recognition); then it is Chris Rock s task to induct The Red Hot Chilly Peppers, the band play By The Way, Give It Away (with Cliff Martinez and Jack Irons) then the final jam is Stevie Wonder s Higher Ground where they are joined by Ron Wood and Kenny Jones, Billy Boy Arnold from Green Day, Slash, George Clinton and Michael Hampton from Funkadelic.
