REVIEW: |
This new double
DVD release presents both Ron Wood concerts from London's Ambassador Theatre show held in
other to promote his latest solo album. The first Disc (NTSC) offers a new source
with excellent video shot in front of the stage but with audio a bit saturated.
The London
concerts were given by Ron Wood concert for promoting I Feel Like Playing album..
Footage is good, sometimes shaky at the beginning of songs but most of them are
complete, no tracks separation here contrary to previous releases of this concert.
Particularly detailed is the part where the cast of Stomp, about 20 of them, plays
on stage (actually above the stage where musicians are) in songs like "Spoonful" or "Fancy Pants" adding all kinds of percussions. During "Around The
Plynth" even the drummer turns its back to the audience to look up at them! The
second Disc has the evening show that was released officially on a 3 LP box
set and although it is shot on 4:3 ratio this is even better than the afternoon
recording, it seems to have been captured exactly from the same taper spot as
the previous one. On this concert Adam Green is upfront between Ronnie and his
son Jesse and so in evidence contrary to the afternoon show. Footage is very
steady and has great audio too; unfortunately it is not complete, we can only
hope a complete version will turn up sometime. However these films are both
very good and are nice additions to the collection of Ron Wood's solo output, it
is only puzzling why 2 discs are needed.
