REVIEW: |
The bulk of recordings
comes from the almost complete video posted on YT by Gunnar A. The point was
trying to improve and complete everything: these files are of course
compressed. To complete the project have been added the soundcheck
tracks and mixes of different sources and here
is a very interesting result. The line-up was: Ron Wood on guitar and vocals, Imelda
May on vocals, Ben Waters on piano, Dion Disse Egtved on bass, Dexter Hercules on
drums, Denise Gordon & Amy Mayes on backing vocals, Tom Waters
on alto sax), Antti Snellman on tenor sax, with
special guests Lulu on vocals on Run Rudolph Run and Lulu & Jack Broadbent on
backing vocals on Bye Bye Johnny and Johnny B. Goode. The first three songs of
Disc One are just Ben waters playing the piano, on Sweet Little Sixteen there
is a 10 seconds patch at 1.07 minutes, a gap was deleted on Talking About You
and on Tribute to C.Berry at 2.27; Don t Lie To Me, Wee Wee Hours, Almost
Grown, Memphis, Tennessee and Betty Jean fade in and out while on Back In The
USA the first second is missing. On Disc Two a gap was deleted at 0.53 into
Rock & Roll Music and at 3.49 into Bye Bye Johnny. Part II presents the
soundcheck recordings, some noise was deleted at 0.44 into Talking About You
and on the following banter. Part III presents a mix of sources and alternate
recordings with Memphis, Tennessee mix from the two takes on Part 2 (Tracks 16
and 20),
Sweet Little Sixteen mix from
Track 6 from Disc One patched with Almost Grown #1,
Little Queenie mix of Tracks 6 &12 from
Disc Two,
Mad Lad mix of Tracks 13 (Disc
Two) and 14(Disc One)
Run Rudolph Run
mix of Tracks 11(Disc Two) and
Track 18
(Disc One), Let It Rock mix between Track 14 (Disc Two) and Track 21(Disc One) and
finally Memphis, Tennessee mix between Track 17 (Disc One) and Track 15 (Disc
Two). The sound output is excellent with all instruments audible except for
bass at the beginning and no distortion although tracks come from different
sources, unfortunately in mono possibly due to some unbalances; packaging is
tasty and reflects the goof mood these concerts spread. Imelda May enters the
stage when Wee Wee Hours is played and remains through Tribute To Chuck Berry
to return for Run Run Rudolph and then from Let It Rock through the concert s
end.
