release comes from WLR despite the new label s name and presents the Vegas show
on audio and video supplemented by both stops at the Empire Pool Club, Indio
for the week long Desert Trip on video. This is the last concert the band
played in 2016, not considering the 1 hour long venture in Foxboro for the
Patriots private fest.
The Vegas concert
has been previously released just as a no label Las Vegas 2016 T-Mobile Arena
and on cdr as Las Vegas 2016 (Exile EXCDR20161022) with a set that included a
DVD-R as well as on Welcome to Las
Vegas (Goldplate GP 1604). This recording is much
better than Goldplate, sharper with the guitars upfront although some
distortion can be felt especially on background vocals. Amazingly the first
disc starts with Happy, that should have been the last track. The band here is
actually playing quite well, much better than on the second Desert Trip gig.
video is very well recorded, multicamera that shows many up close footage in
great quality(Jumping Jack Flash, Paint It Black, Midnight Rambler, Miss You,
Sympathy For The Devil); footage is often steady except for some side recording
which at times are shaky.
stage in their career the Stones seem to be looking for things they never did
in the past, like this Desert Trip double event in a week.
As for the Desert Trip concerts they have been
squeezed into one DVD-9, they have been released as professional cdr called Desert
Trip, October 7,2016 and Desert Trip October 14, 2006, then as Desert Trip
Weekend 1 (Exile EXCDR20161007) and Weekend 2 (Exile XCDR20161014) in two sets
that included also a DVD-R of the concert. On silver it has been released as In
Weekend I (Goldplate GP 1602)
and Weekend II (Goldplate GP 1603). This release presents both concerts housed
in a DVD-9. The first concert presents an excellent multicamera source, but the
core of the footage comes from a recording made from the first rows; very close
although a bit shaky at times; also the stage screen footage is shown as well.
The second concert is quite well recorded too, basically from the same point,
so we can believe it has been taped by the same person. All in all this is a
very nice release and, had it not been for that gross mistake on cd one,
someone could even have believed it was not coming from the usual WLR guys!
