REVIEW:

Here is another fan compilation with Stones tracks assembled in order to present the best possible versions of outtakes and radio broadcasts;   but let s get a look at what is on offer examining the statements that come with this compilation: Great care was taken with sound quality and locating the best sources. Many of the sources are your usual bootleg CDs, but heavily researched and
compared, and remastered with a light touch. The master tape-quality tracks from Key To The Highway, for example, have the messed up cues and clipped intros restored. The 1965 BBC tracks come from a guy I know who is trying to collect every BBC broadcast from the 60s (particular mention for Fanny Mae that ends Disc One) with an alternate take of Suzie Q. that needed to be speed corrected. Disc Two presents studio demos and outtakes that are much cleaner and clearer than previous versions, starting with 19th Nervous Breakdown alternate vocal and with the cleanest version of Pay Your Duties in wide stereo, plus many alternate mixes. Generally the quality is superb, and I think it s a nice alternative to that fan-made set that Scorpio cloned, which is heavily processed and uses whatever source was handy to the compilers. Packaging is a bit dull, too dark and with no pictures, I guess a more attractive artwork would have enhanced the merits of this release.
