REVIEW:

This newly released album presents the Stones in the Brian Jones era in 4 discs showing the various aspects of the band: live on stage, guesting on radio or television shows. Its material has become public domain and so technically it shouldn t be considered a boot, but a legit release. This set contains 4 picture discs housed in an unfolding gatefold digipack, they all having a great sounding output and are each dedicated to different subjects: Disc One on the American Broadcasts, Disc Two to the Live Concerts in France and Germany, Disc Three to the UK broadcasts (wrongly called BBC broadcasts, since Ready Steady Go was not a BBC programme, but ATV, now ITV) and Disc Four to the Hawaii 1966 show. In fact the main theme of this collection is set by its title which emphasises the song that shaped the sixties, Satisfaction, which is present on all discs, however it is funny they selected one Paris, Olympia concert when the song hadn t been written yet and of course it was not performed there. Right before the Hamburg concert there are 3 uncredited songs from L’Olympia 1966 2nd show including the Hang On Sloopy Theme right before Get Off Of My Cloud. Talking about the musical side there is nothing stunning on this set, however all tracks are in excellent sound output; packaging is great with any disc housed in a different pocket of each four fold sides, but there are lots of mistakes and omissions on the sources information. This set could be a nice introduction for new fans to this great band honouring its early live works.
